Default if i could wake up normal it would help so much

i fall asleep ok, its the other side that is bad, waking up to vivid dreams and pain, and for some reason the vivid dream are terrifying. Neuro told me sleep center in brain is messed up. thanks. he gave me ambien. that helps me get to sleep but no help on the other side, waking up.
just thought someone might have a suggestion. taking Neurontin already.
