I have been taking two drugs, Cardizem and Synthroid for 18 years. The mfg. has not changed in all that time and I have felt fine. The first of the year I upgraded my plan D policy and started to get my meds by mail. I had Cardizem left over from my original script and didn't start using the mail drugs until recently. I am having problems and I was wondering if all mfgs. are created equally. I have already had a problem with another one of their brands and had to switch back to Merck. Anyone had any issues with different mfgs. associated with their Ins. carrier???

Can you share what seems different?
Some generics dissolve faster than others. That is because they must meet or exceed requirements for dissolution at the FDA to get approval. But with Cardizem (Diltiazem) this is not typically an issue, because this drug is slower acting than say pain tablets etc. I would wonder if you were given the wrong thing? Or the wrong dosage form? What is the generic you are receiving via mail order--the manufacturer name? I use this drug too and have had two different companies over the years with no problems. I always photocopy the RX before I send it off, because I don't trust mail away's too much. I suggest you do that too, just as insurance. You can PM me if you prefer privacy.

Yes, my daughter was on a generic medication for a year. I transferred it to Costco b/c there meds are less expensive. Costco had the same generic medication, but different manufacturer. She had terrible problems immediately. We gave it a few days, but I then transferred it back to Walgreens and she is now fine. The pharmacists say there is not enough of a difference b/w the generics to do this. It was too much of a coincidence here! As I said, once she switched back to the original generic she was fine. I am paying more, but at least it is less than the brand name. Hope this helps.
