So I'm a 17 year old boy and lately I've been getting a lot of pressure in my head(mostly the back). It all seemed to start after I got almost choked out by my friend. We were wrestling and he got me in the guillotine and I started to see stars and black when he finally stopped. Ever since, I get a lot of pressure in my head and it feels like a throbbing feeling that I get sometimes from my upper neck up to the tip of the back of my head. Sometimes the throbbing will be so intense that my head and neck will move back and forth to my heartbeat and my heart beat will get really loud in my head(throbbing as in I feel my heart beat and a lot of pressure there. Not throbbing like in pain). When I get that throbbing feeling, I also get very dizzy almost as if my brain is spinning inside my head and I get very lightheaded. Also my eyes get a little blurry and they get pressure built up behind them(my eyes blur to every heart beat for some reason but it gets worse when I get this dizziness). It also feels like my head is almost being forced back and my eyes want to roll back into my head.
*I Get this a lot when I'm laying on my bed looking at my phone. I'll be laying with my head on my pillow and for some reason the way I'm laying causes me to get this dizziness.(something that has to do with the pillow putting pressure anywhere from my upper neck to the back of my head. I can't sleep on my back anymore.) *When pressure is put on those, all the sudden I will get extremely lightheaded and dizzy/disoriented along with the other symptoms I talked about above^.* one thing that i think I've noticed unless its just a coincidence is that I get these symptoms a lot more and more instense when I'm dehydrated. One thing that I realized while writing this is that I believe I've had this problem for a while but when my friend choked me, the symptoms intensified and I gained some new symptoms from it. Because for the last 3 years I've been dealing with a lightheadedness/disorientation/dizziness problem. *Also, for the last three years my eyes have been doing that thing where they blur to every heart beat which has caused a major problem with reading in school. Another thing I should point out is that about a week before my whole dizziness problem started 3 years ago, me and my friend stupidly were choking each other till we saw stars... I wish I had known better. I'm not sure if these chokes have caused my problems or they are just coincidences.* I would also I like to say that I do have epilepsy and I have seizures all the time but they are tiny seizures that just give me dizziness. They are located in my sensory cortex/parietal lobe and emit from a tiny little spot in my brain. The reason I don't think the symptoms I listed have to do with my epilepsy is because I had a 5 day EEG and when I had my seizures, I didn't even get very effected and when I did, they were completely different feelings of disorientation. So I'm just trying to figure out what's causing my dizziness/lightheadedness/disorientation, why my eyes constantly blur, and why I feel pressure in my head. I believe all of these are related as I explained earlier. I should add that I know I don't have a vestibular problem, no anxiety, and no high blood pressure. I also get pretty disoriented when I go out. It's like my brain can't process new places very well but after maybe 2-3 weeks of being there, I start to get used to the place and won't get as dizzy anymore. For example, I went to santa Barbara a month ago and was disoriented and feeling out of it for the whole time but began to get a little used to it in the 3rd week. The biggest thing I couldn't get used to was staying up on the mountain at our cabin. Whenever I went out and looked down on the city I immediately got disoriented. the best way to describe the feeling I get from this particular problem is feeling like I'm in a dream. Its weird because I went to Santa Barbara a year ago too and had no problem then. My dizziness disorientation problems weren't as bad a year ago either though. Once again i know its not anxiety because i've done 2 different anxiety medicines and they have not helped at all. I also walked around with a thing on my finger and got disoriented but my heart rate still stayed between 50 and 65. Im not sure if this problem has any relations with the problem I described above^ but it's a hassle so I would love to figure it out as well. . Thanks you so much for your patience and help! |

Hi,
I wonder if the wrestling move misaligned your c1 & c2 , also called upper cervical (spine). Especially if you had any other head, neck traumas. check out www.upcspine.com SIGN / SYMPTOM CHECKLIST - http://www.upcspine.com/self.htm You might get more thoughts & replies if you post this on the New members forum - http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum88.html

Tell your parents about it and see about getting a cat scan and MRI of your back. That way you can see if any damage was done to your head neck or spine. Try and take it easy and eat healthy and see if the symptoms subside. It's best to tell your doctor your symptoms most likely it will go away soon. If your exercise try and exercise lightly until the problem is gone. But consult with a professional.
