My neuro just told me that he's calling in a Rx for oral pred for me. (yay?)

I wouldnt have panicked so much if my left hand wasnt feeling like I was losing movement in it. (fingers arent moving very well anymore)

The numbness is also creeping over into the other side of my body today. Right shoulder feels like it has some numbness and my neck and back hurt...right foot has been tingling all morning and my toes feel weird.

I'm really not looking forward to choking down 6 prednisone pills later. (just giving the neuro time to call the pharmacy and for the pharmacy to fill the Rx)

It was so much easier to take steroids when they pump them directly into your body. (except for the whole having to go to the hospital to get it done, and the pain involved with the IV port...not to mention the $2500 bill that the insurance didnt cover)

If I remember right, when I had steroids in 2007, the bottle cost me what...$10? $5??

I dont have anything visual going on now that I know of. Just a little double vision if I try to look at a star in the sky...I can even go into WalMart now and not get knocked to the floor by the fluorescent lights. So at least I'm not too scared that the oral pred is going to screw up my optic nerve.

I do think I'm going to end up at the gym in a couple of days when the steroids make me bouncing-off-the-walls-crazy and I need to work off a bunch of energy. Good thing I got that membership. Right now tho, my left arm and my back hurt so bad from the weird neurological feelings. I just want that to go away.

Went for a 1/2 mile walk last night with DD19. It was so nice to be able to be outside doing stuff (despite it being dark) and enjoying that 1/2 mile with DD19.

Didn't walk this morning nor do my yoga - sinus headache made that decision for me.

Tomorrow a.m. - walk.

Wow, frost already? It was 90 here today when I swam my mile this morning! But, nice job on keeping active Dejibo

Tkrik, I hope you get relief soon. I hate sinus infex. I used to get about 6 per year. Then I started allergy shots, now I get one or two, sometimes none.

Erin: girl, lay low for now. It is scary when those flares happen, isnt it? When my limbs were in pain, I'd wrap them snugly in a towel, or similar cloth, dont cut off the blood flow though. It really helped with the pain.

Don't eat more than 10 to 15g of Sat fats while in this flare (Swank).

I had a walk tonight, for 35 minutes. It was about 65 degrees out so perfect for a walk. I slept until noon today, then started my laundry and puttered in my flowers for awhile before my walk. I love these early autumn days, it's cool with low humidity. If it gets a bit cooler and we have more rain, I might do some more yard work.

I didnt really eat all that much today. I had a Yoplait (Cherry Orchard flavor, nummy!) and a handful of crackers when I took my steroids. I had them at 2am saturday morning, because I just didnt want to wait any longer.

I'm going to wait till morning (sunday) before I take them. I'm tempted to take them now, since it's almost 2am now, but I think I'll wait till a more reasonable hour...especially since my parents went to bed and I'm afraid I'd wake them up if I do it now.

I had some tingling in my fingers, but that went away and now they're just as numb as they were. I'm really hoping these steroids work, because if they dont, I'm probably going to freak out. My hands are very important to me, and it's driving me nuts to have one that's on the sick list. I'm a crocheter and knitter and while I've still been able to do a little bit, it's been a lot harder. At least crocheting is easier, since I dont have to hold the extra needle like you do with knitting. (crochet is my first love anyways)

It just really feels weird that half my body is numb. Some of it feels like it's creeping over to the right, so I really hope these steroids start to work soon. I'm so tempted to go upstairs right now and choke down the next six pills. Since now it's been almost 24hrs since I took the first handful.

I might still go take them in a few minutes. I didnt have any problem sleeping last night. I went to bed within 20 minutes of having my yogurt and steroid snack, and slept thru most of the night except for a couple of potty breaks. (drank a lot of water with my 'roids last night)

I just want things to get better...NOW! I dont care if I lose a little sleep to do it either...I'm insomniac anyways.

Erin, take the pred the way your doctor prescribed it, no? My heart goes otu to you, this is a tough flare for you. Rest as much as you can. I take it you are young enough that we don't have to wonder if this is a stroke, rather than MS?

Ewiz: That does sound like good walking weather. Keep up the good work

I swam a mile this morning. It was so very nice.

Erin:

Let me lay some virtual hands on you and say my favorite blessing:

May the Lord Bless you and Keep you
May the Lord shine His face upon you
May the Lord give you His most precious gift
The gift of Shalom (peace).

And, the traditional Hebrew Prayer for Illness and RecoverY:

May the One who blessed our ancestors --

Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,

Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah --

bless and heal the one who is ill:

Erin524

May the Holy Blessed One

overflow with compassion upon her,

to restore her,

to heal her,

to strengthen her,

to enliven her.

The One will send her, speedily,

a complete healing --

healing of the soul and healing of the body --

along with all the ill,

among the people of Israel and all humankind,

soon,

speedily,

without delay,

Amen!

I did end up with some insomnia. Went to bed at 4am, got back up at 6am (didnt sleep) and ended up taking a shower instead. (hadnt showered in a couple of days)

Took my parents out for an early breakfast and then went shopping with my parents to WalMart. It was WalMart that sucked the life out of me. (happy to see tho, that my eyes cooperated with the fluorescent lights in WM) I got so tired out in WM that I handed the keys to my car to my dad and risked letting him drive my car. (he hit the side of the building at his work with his car the other day)

Went home, ate some yogurt just in case I was hypoglycemic from the 'roids, and took a 3hr nap.

I think my left foot and leg are getting less numb, but it seems like my hand is going to be numb still for awhile. I know it's only been two days, but the degree of numbness is pretty strong. I'm worried I'll be stuck with the zombie hand that doesnt feel like my own.

I have to really concentrate to be able to crochet or knit, because I drop the yarn really easily when I cant feel it...plus the yarn feels horrible on my fingers sometimes. (acrylic yarn)

WalMart shopping could send anyone in a flare!

I swam a mile this morning at dawn.
