Have I missed a thread about this? For some reason it is interesting to me, possibly because despite being a normal weight the veins in my legs are shot so I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if the ones in my head were also.

I'm not convinced that it will make major advances toward a cure but perhaps just put off some of our inevitable progression?

My doctor has done tests in my legs because of constant swelling and he found that the blood between my knees and ankles flows backwards. It could be related to the backward flow in the brain that MS patients supposedly have.

I prop up my legs to reduce swelling so maybe there is a way to prop up our heads and get the blood to flow correctly. Maybe we would have top hang upside down.

They can do a Doppler Ultrasound of your legs, and your neck veins to look for reflux of blood. In the neck it is the vertebral veins, not the jugular veins per se, but the internal ones.

It is harder to look for this compromise in the neck, but an experienced doctor can read them, to make a dx of Ccsvi.

JMO, Right now Ccsvi is just Dr. Zamboni's hypothesis to connect this to MS. Even though he has done many tests on those with/without MS. I believe he has bought this to the annual medical conference this year. This is just all my opinion, btw.

It would be great to find a cause for MS and be able to treat it.

There is TONS of info with all the links to the scientific papers and research. They just had a conference on Sept. 8 in Bologna Italy which included doctors from the U. S. A woman whose husband has MS (and he had surgery to fix his veins) attended and took extremely detailed notes about what the presenters had to say. There is also an open facebook page now with the notes and links etc. Just type in CCSVI multiple sclerosis facebook in google. Fascinating stuff and all the doctors who attended the conference are extremely excited about this new paradigm. They believe the problem with varicose veins is the same process going on in the neck/head.
