Default Non-MS Immune system trouble after quiting CRABs?

The doctors keep telling me that since I'm not on the crabs anymore my immune system should be back to it's overactive self. Problem is I keep getting sick and getting infections that won't go away. Currently it's a staff infection on my face (lovely) which has come back again despite my being chock full of anti-biotics. 3rd trip to the dermatologist this afternoon.

Has anyone else stopped using one of the crabs and seen similar results?

I don't have any experience for you because Jim's still taking his Beta. But he has moved down to half a dose instead of a full dose for awhile. Jim had staff once in his foot, it started as cellulitis from a small cut. It took several IV antibiotics before they found one that worked. He's also had it in his face from a simple pimple. Hope you feel better soon.

I have been off all of the crab's for a year and a half. I have not noticed more or less infections. I have had a few sinus infections, but that is normal for me.

I don't have any advice for you as I am on C. I do notice that I actually get more sinus infections while on C than I did before.

I would talk to your dr. about this before hand, but honey can act as an effective antibiotic (in some cases more than "manmade" antibiotics). When I was 1st diagnosed with MS my neuro at the time recommended that I take 1 tsp of honey a day to help my immune system.

Just some info. . . .I did a quick google on it.

I hope the infection clears soon. Let us know how you are doing.

I went back to the dermo yesterday afternoon and he was a little freaked out. I have a scrip for another, stronger broader spectrum antibiotic so I imagine this will take care of it. Really, it's not that bad just a PITA. Thanks for the replies!

KAOheim,

I'm not sure you would consider my situation similar to yours since I have never used the DMDs - some years I seem to get everything and anything going around and other years everyone else is sick around me and I stay healthy.

Hope the staff infection clears up soon.
