I had O.N. a few times. Ice pick pain with eye movement and a central scotoma. There was a big yellowish spot in the middle of my vision that the words I tried to read were blurry in the large yellow spot.
It lasted two weeks, seemed to go away and came back for another week or so. This is how I get it with a few years spacing. Opth doctor says that is mild since vision is not severely effected and it goes away. I get it in the right eye only. That eye still has problems, a small vitreous detachment with a sheer curtain effect, when I look with that eye only. My vision it not effected with this now, I had the black cob-web effect 1 day. Bright lights hurt, and make my both eyes tear. I wear computer glare glasses, no prescription, and turn the computer contrast setting to very low. I have a glare screen on the monitor to save my eyes from strain and pain. Some people get bilateral O.N. at the same time with MS, but it is rare. Maybe what Cherie said causes that. It can be in both eyes at different times, but not usually at the same time.
