Doesn't it always happen like that. Stupid . . Mother Nature always has a trick up her sleeve.

Feel better RW. Look at it this way.....the alternative lasts at least 18 years (but always longer) and Midol does not make it go away!!

RW, I did two course of antibiotics the time before last, and then I finally went in to see my GP (instead of the clinic). He opted to send the results to the lab, because the "quick test" they give seemed to indicate the UTI had cleared.

As it turned out, it was a different bacteria (or strain, not sure what they call it), and it DID show up on the lab results. I was given 7 or 10 days of some kind of med, and THEN it finally cleared.

I just got over another UTI, which showed as "bad" on the quick test. They immediately put me on 10 days of a drug ... no use screwing around this time.

So, it may be that it is not showing up on the quick test, and they may need to send it to the lab.

They did send the sample to lab, but since it's the weekend and it is rural Maine, I'll hear tomorrow as to results.

What sucks is having to describe symptoms to the doc NOW, with the overwhelming cramps from the period, being overtired and just sick of it all already.

I finished the scrips for the Bactrim and pyridium and I am doing ibuprofen, baclofen in case it's bladder spasms, cranny caps every two hours and I took one of the man's sleeping pills to knock me out for the day today so I could sleep without getting up every hour to void a few drops.

I just don't need this right before Christmas, especially with all I have going on at work.

Hi RW -- UGH. I'm soooo sorry you have your first UTI. They really are the most uncomfortable pain in the butt infections. Antibiotics should make it feel much better in a few days unless you have a resistant bacteria and then you will need a new antibiotic. The lab culture should tell the doc. what antiobiotics will work.

I have gotten 3 UTI's out of the last 4 Tysabri infusions. One was really tough to get rid of because of a resistant strain (I think I was suffering for 3 weeks, it got better, and then 1 week I got another one after the infusion!) I finally went to a urologist and got some really helpful information. I also talked to a nurse at my MS clinic. If I keep having UTI's after Tysabri (and they weren't from sex so I know it's the drug!) they want me to switch to Tysabri every other month. They have found that people getting various multiple infections on Tysabri do so much better when it is every other month.

Anyhoooo...I don't mean to go on about myself! I do hope you are feeling much better soon.

I work in a group home setting with dual diagnosis clients who also have medical needs. Mixture of stuff, always interesting and I enjoy it, and yes, mostly nights, although it depends on what's going on at any given time. Meetings and classes and schedule changes are rampant around this time of year!

Your job sounds very interesting, RW. Sounds like something I'd enjoy doing. Having a job that you actually enjoy going to makes all the difference in the world. They're fortunate to have you.....and I think they know it.

Hey RW -- how funny! I used to have that very same job before I went off to graduate school in the mid 90s. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I AM feeling better, but I think it may be because of the good news I had at work this week!

I still have the electric tingle/pain/guarding when I void, with the monthly on top of it all and the resulting cramps. I have to wait until that is over to figure out the rest!

I'm on 800 mg ibuprofens for the monthly and that may be easing the pain of the other thing, but who knows. I have another appointment the 24th and yet another the 31st ( both at the same doc, I do this with him every year it seems!) for physical, updating shots, flu shot, scheduling colonoscopy, and followup on the UTI/whatever it is, mammogram, and Pap smear! Hopefully it will all be cleared up or figured out before the 31st because that's my next infusion! Whatever is wrong WILL be solved, but probably not on the time table I would prefer.

At least I met my deductible for the year so I won't have to pay anything OOP, but meeting deductibles has never been a priority of mine. I'd prefer not to have to go at all!

Top it all off with OT and I haven't finished shopping yet...no stress, no stres, no stress!
