1/2 mile is very good Dejibo, and I'm sorry to hear about the headache. Any good movies today?
I swam a mile today. I think I might go see "It's Complicated" at the theater, or maybe see Avatar for the second time, or even Book of Eli (Who can ever get enough of Denzel Washington?) |
37 miles on the road this morning in about 2 hours and 10 minutes. My bike computer wasn't working, but it works out to about 17 mph average. I had to just use my heart rate monitor to measure how hard I was working. Ended up with 2 hours and 25 minutes on the HR monitor (includes a 15 min rest stop), avg HR 78% of max, max HR 89% of max, and 2000 calories burned.
The bacon and eggs sure tasted good when we got home! |
been working on my arm exercises ... and still keeping off the 5 lbs from the beginning of the year!!
re-organizing the packed boxes and packing some more ... just to be ready for spring - because after tax season (which will keep me busy) and class ... I'll be ready to move! |
BBS Its complicated was funny, did you go see it!!
Hey wow long bike rides, arm work outs, walks, swims... good job all!! Walked again last few days, then this morning some yoga... stiff and blahh today, but comes with the weather, raining here...uggg rather snow.. when in the 30s... keep on movin all!! I am focused on eating more fruits and veggies, healthier, as I am not used to getting this stuff daily... today clementine and yogurt for breakfast! hugsss all, sarah |
My husband and I Yawned through Its Complicated. A few funny scenes, but it dragged so.... we were disappointed. Next time we will see Up int he Air or Book of Eli. My DD's movie is coming out in a few weeks, so we await that with excitement.
Nice job Sabi. TxBatman: GOod to see you back. You are our top exerciser/athlete! Hi Vonn: Way to go on the arms. I swam a mile today. NIce and warm out. |
I'd like to go do some exercise, just dont feel like doing it with two numb feet and the one numb hand....and the migraine headache.
My entire body has hurt the past couple of days to the point where I just dont want to do anything other than be lazy. (I'm good at lazy) I'm really hating the weird sensations in my feet right now. Not quite as much as the migraine tho...and my parents are walking around upstairs with heavy shoes on, stomping on the wood floor that's above my bedroom...and one of them is wearing squeaky shoes which is making my headache feel worse everytime I hear that "squeak!" Time to go take their shoes away from them. If I get up and wash my hair for the first time in 3 days, I might go and walk on the treadmill at the gym some later tonight. Even if it's just to get out of the house for a half hour. Hopefully it wont be snowing or ice raining later and I'll be able to get out. |
I've been swimming the last few days but it's been wiping me out completely. Today is jab day so I only have a 7 hour window of opportunity to do stuff.
We're off to get hay in a bit then Federer is playing later. Lance has left us. It was SO nice having him to stay. he was a treasure to have around (in my dreams again) I think I'm stressed about this trip; having awful dreams and exhausted. another hot one today too so taking it easy. |
Did another 33.4 miles today. Wind killed us on the outbound leg...at one point we could barely do 12 mph. It was great on the way back in though, averaging around 22-23mph and winning a sprint at over 35 mph. Felt really good at the end...could have gone another 10-15 miles if I could have convinced anybody else to go with me.
|
I did a 20 minute Pilates workout today. I only have one more week of training ... :thud:
Been eating too much Thai and Chinese food while there. I need to get back to my routine.. |
Did 30 min on recumbant bike again...I like it so much better than trying to walk the track where I stiffen up so much...
then did my upper body weights. Cheated again...did some machines, even though I haven't been released by the surgeon for it yet... |
Woke up, read the painful eye responses, panicked a bit thinking it could be something new, can't do anything about it today being a public holiday so I saddles up my Hoss and we went for a lovely hour long ride. Lots of running about, even got a gallop out of him. Both worked up a sweat.
Then half an hour in the pool to chill out, then half an hour of getting jiggy to work up another sweat  Might be in need of a nap in a bit.... |
Whoa, I forgot to post and encourage yesterday! Good going all of you. Pud, did you see Federer play? I love to watch him play.
I swama mile yesterday and also today. |
Just got back from walking on the treadmill for a half hour.
I wanted to smack all the pushy people at the gym tho. I had to wait a few minutes for a treadmill to open up, was on the thing, getting my Kindle arranged and clipping myself to the emergency stop thingie just in case I'd fall off or something, and had two people ask me if I was getting off so they could use it. (Ummmm...No) Then, because I wasnt running or jogging on it, some guy thought that didnt give me the right to use the treadmill. I ignored him. Got off after about a half hour because my leg was getting tired (weird sensations in my right leg the last day or two) and the guy who kvetched because I wasnt jogging said "geeze...Finally!". Well, geeze...what a jerk! (ok, I might not have used the word "jerk", but something a bit stronger, but I was mumbling it to myself and not actually telling him what a "jerk" he was.) As for the weird sensations in my right leg, it feels almost like I have a pulled muscle without having the pain from a pulled muscle. Not sure if my leg is weak or not, but it just feels weird to walk....and the pain in my left foot from the arthritis in my big toe and the toe next to it are driving me nuts. Both my feet have been a bit numb this week too. Think that started saturday night. It sucks to have both feet and the left hand numb...and my right hand is having weird sensations when I touch some stuff. Like my hand is going numb, but isnt numb yet. The MS is really ticking me off now. At least today I'm not feeling like I'm going to fall down like I was feeling over the weekend. |
Had a nice bimble around town, got my eyes checked - they're FINE. No panic. :)
Exercised my tear ducts watching 'UP'. OMG, what a sad film!!!! :( Now exercising my eyes watching Federer play again (Raffa pulled out last night) And exercising my right arm putting peanut m+m's in my gob. :o |
Tuesday night spin class last night. No big news...60 minutes, avg HR 75% of max, max HR 88% of max and 722 calories burned.
|
Did the now-daily 30 min stationary bike..feels so, so much better than that walking. The stiff calf muscles and hip flexors make that difficult...I can't even walk standing straight due to those hip flexors...
anyway, when I got home, I cleaned for an hour...it felt so good! Never thought I'd feel good cleaning! |
walked 1/2 mile. got my hair cut. im done! :o
|
Good job Dejibo; in flare but still walking :)
Debbie its so great that you do that daily :) Hey TxBatman--another great workout! pud, its good that you let yourself relax too! Erin, that a way hanging in there even though you were getting pressure to get off. Don't worry about those folks, they do not have a clue. Just give them your beautiful smile. Maybe even say, "I have Multiple Sclerosis and I'm doing the best I can to stay active. Please do not make it harder". I swam a mile today. |
Thanks, BBS...I am so tired in the morning, but I push myself up and out, and feel so much better after a workout, no matter that it's just 30 min. Not supposed to do too much until released by the surgeon...I hope to get that next Wednesday...
Dej...way to go...keep it up! Erin, there are so many obnoxious people in the gym...once I was giving myself 30 seconds between sets on a weight machine, and a guy came up to me and said, "You going to be done sometime today?" Of course I wasn't menopausal then, so I meekly said, "One more set." Now, I'd bite his head off:mad: |
My dad does the weight lifting machines at the gym. He doesnt do a lot of weights, he's older and has a heart condition, so he does the easy stuff, but he goes thru the entire group of machines except maybe one.
What he hates are people who camp out on one machine and never let it go. They have posted rules that you're not to camp out on one machine for an hour, but people dont pay attention to that. My dad used to just skip the machines that had campers, but now he'll go up to them and ask if he can use the machine to do a set so he can get thru his exercises. They'll usually let him do it, altho one woman yelled at him once. I didnt do exercises today, ate out at a chinese buffett last night, and I think something from that gave me a stomach ache. (why does "stomach" look like it's mispelled? my brain has been doing that to me all night...Firefox claims it's spelled correctly) My feet are driving me nuts. I thought having a numb left hand was bad, but having two numb feet, a numb left hand, and a right hand that just feels weird sure is irritating. (I cant tell if my right hand feels normal and I've just forgotten what that feels like, or if it's starting to go numb too. Weird that I've forgotten already what feeling normal feels like) |
Erin, PLEASE speak to the manager at the gym. Being harrassed by other members is NOT something to be tolerated. You pay the same dues they pay. If they dont like your speed, TOO BAD! After you speak to the manager, tell him you want HIM to be the "go to" guy and if someone bugs you or harrasses you, you can say "go see Kevin!" or "if you dont stop the stupid comments, I am going to report you" You are entitled to use that machine without BS. You are not some child playing on the machine, you are exercising! If this man wants to run, let him RUN OUTSIDE and fetch his manners from the trunk of his car.
Me? I am not so polite. I would turn and say "either Shut up or expect me to camp here tonight. Now, go find a new place to whine till I am done. The longer you stare at me, the more I feel like camping. :p I walked 1/2 mile, and it started to snow. im inside, im done. |
Erin, glad to hear your dad is taking care of himself...it's important for our parents to keep active, and esp work out with weights, either free weights or on machines...
When I work on weight machines, I do 2 sets with a max. time in between of 30 seconds. I'm not on them long...honest! I cleaned the main floor of the house today...it' took about 1 1/2 hours, along with going up and down the stairs to the basement to do laundry...I didn't get done, either. I pooped out before I mopped the kitchen floor. I'll leave that for my dear DH, who's always eager to help out. I'm a lucky girl!:) The house smells so much better...not like an old person's home anymore. |
Well I figured out why I might have been feeling like I was working so hard in the classes earlier this month. Got my bloodwork results today from my annual physical on the 8th. Apparently my lymphocytes were 70% versus a normal of 16-45%. Sounds like I have been fighting off something for a while. Got retested today, so hopefully I am back to normal. I have sure felt better the last few days compared to a week or so ago, but who knows.
|
if I go to the gym later tonight with my dad when he gets home, I'll be a little itchier towards anyone who complains about me just walking versus running. If they do whine, I might just camp out on the machine for the entire hour that my dad works out, instead of just doing my normal 30 - 40 minutes. I'll be stopping and taking lots of breaks, but I'll make sure to camp out a good long time on the treadmill.
I might not go to the gym tho, I just spent 20 minutes with my dad's ice chopper tool and my driveway. (tool is just a big chisel that's heavy. All I have to do is hold it a few inches above the ice and let it drop, dont have to do much in the way of heavy whacking at the ice) I was quite grossed out to find that someone's bathroom trash had apparently either been blown into the snowdrift at the end of our yard, or the neighborhood trash dumper (guy from a neighborhood down the street who puts his trash in our trash or our neighbor's) visited us. Reason I know it's bathroom trash and not from our house....I dont use plastic thingies for a certain biological function that only girls have. They're all over the end of our driveway. I quit chopping the ice when I discovered those....YUCK!!!! EWWWW!!!! NASTY NASTY NASTY!!!! My back was hurting from standing there chopping ice anyways. (I hope they blow away soon, or get washed away in a rainstorm, because I dont want to keep finding those in our yard...ewwwww! I'm not touching them to throw them away!) Next trash day (next thursday) I think I'm going to have to get up early and watch for the guy who keeps bringing their trash to our house to get rid of it, and kvetch to him for stealing our trash services (we pay for it) He can drive it somewhere else and stop using our bin and yard for his nasties. |
You are a trooper doing that mornng exercise Debbie.
Erin, good for you for getting back to the gym after that incident. TxBatman, maybe you should lay off the exercise for a few days so your body can recover from whatever it is thats going on with it. Dejibo: I love your response to the stalkers at Erin's gym. I swam a mile today. |
I did 25 minutes on the elliptical machine today. :)
|
I treadmilled for about a half hour tonight. (not very crowded there today) Walked till my legs started to tingle and my feet were staying "stop now if you want to be able to make it to the car". Then I went and sat and read my Kindle while I waited for my dad to get done with his.
I'd probably walk more if my back and neck werent still giving me problems. I keep hoping that if I keep doing the walking that eventually my back wont give me as many problems. |
I think you are right about that Erin. Keep on moving.
Good job ewiz. |
No walk today. its frigid out there! I stepped out and it took my breath away. I checked the mail and came back. I will find something gentle to do inside. brrrr.... :(
|
So you took a little walk to the mailbox. You live near the Arctic Circle as far as I am concerned.
It was 75 out today and the pool was nice and warm: I swam a mile. |
Wind Chill was 30 BELOW last night. There is just no way I am going out! I will do some Wii or Yoga in side today.
Brrr... :o |
I've been doing a lot of moving, as I am trying to get all the crap up off my old floors, so my new floors can be installed, next week. Pitching most and finding a place to put the rest.
Doing my stretches really helps, in this endevor. I'm gonna pay for this. :D |
What kind of floors are you getting?
|
Nice going Sally! And, happy birthday :)
Dejibo, that's way to cold to go out. I swam a mile today: NIce and warm out. Tomroow will be cold, though. |

I vacuumed for 30 minutes today. Over the past four weeks I did a lot of running back and forth to class as well. Tomorrow my sis and I are going to a mall to get some winter clearance goodies :D then back to work on Monday.
|
vacuuming is hard work! its the one thing I can no longer do for more than 2 minutes. My back locks right up!
its frickin freezing out there! I have to get ready for church. I have been doing small exercises in my house doing yoga, and that Tony Little exercise bar with the bands on the end? Wii has me sweating as well. http://health-fitness.hsn.com/tony-l...123&ccm=hf|123 |
I did yoga this morning, 45 min, cooked bacon and pancakes for the family and I, then napped, then took dog out in the 21 degree weather.. hey beats the past few days of 0.. now to work,
|
I went shopping at WalMart with my parents. That counts as exercise because of all the walking we had to do. (anyone else have a problem with WalMart floors making your back hurt?) Plus all the "defensive" walking you have to do with all the other shoppers walking into you, or pushing past you...and the kids with the Wheelie shoes trying to kill everyone and themselves. (I swear, everytime I go to WM, some kid will skate into me, or nearly into me on those stupid shoes)
I already had bad back pain when I got up this morning. WalMart made it worse and my legs felt weird walking around there after a bit. My dad and I kept passing the shopping cart back and forth...until the electric scooter my mom was using died on her in the middle of the store. (it just stopped and started chirping like crazy and wouldnt move. We abandoned it where it died) We gave the shopping cart to my mom and both me and my dad hobbled our way thru the rest of the shopping. |
