Default Im itchy!

I have been ready to yank my ears off! the skin crack where your ears connect to your head is dry, cracked open, and weeping. My butt crack (sorry to be graphic) has a skin crack! I have red patches on my face as well as a few other spots. i ITCH! I want to rip my ears off! Had several appointments with local MD who is at a loss. Said he has no idea why standard treatments dont work.

Went to dermatologist. he said its the copaxone! Said Copaxone can exacerbate skin conditions like psoriasis, and such, and that its really made a wreck of my skin. After reviewing the records, he sees I failed off of the other meds, and if I lose copaxone, then I will have to go Ty or nothing. He thinks we can save my skin and keep me on copaxone.

I have been given some prescription creams. cant remember the names. will have to look it up when I pick them up from pharmacy in a few minutes. I also had a mole removed while there, but thats another story. I was happy he just lopped it off, and didnt ask me to go back.

Anyone else have skin issues on copaxone? I literally just want to rip my ears off. They itch, and its painful. sheesh!

Dej,
Sorry to hear of your itchiness...that sucks! Hope that the creams work...boy, you sure have had your troubles with the DMDs...

My mom used to slather me with calamine lotion when i had a rash...do they even make that stuff anymore?

I have really dry, itchy skin, too, but it's weather related. And the heat that is on in the house doesn't help.

Try Aquaphor. It's saved my skin! You can get it at any drug store and usually grocery stores.

You know....the back of my ears "cracked" and were irritated all summer and into the fall too. If they weren't cracked...they were super dry and almost seemed like I had 'cradle cap'.

I found something that worked really, really good for me...100% Emu Oil. My girlfriend suggested it, and she was right on! My ears and face have been very happy ever since I started using it.

Here is a link with some information

Thanks for the suggestions. I am on some steroid creams. I finally got the the pharmacy to pick them up. They say it will work wonders.

Spoke to the big city hospital today. She sympathized with me, and saw that I am miserable, but asked me to please stay on copaxone anyway. Interferons are out for me, and the only other step is TY. They really dont like putting folks on Ty, and would prefer to see me itchy with cracked ears. At least we figured out why this is happening.

Thanks for all the hugs.

ITCH--ITCH-- is there an epidemic of this going on?

The past two days I have had a bad problem of itching all over.
I have been using Vaseline Moisture Lotion. It used to work for me.

Last night went to bed and I was scracthing myself so much that I
drew blood in some areas. I know that the heat in the house has something
to do with it, but I never had it this bad.

Today it is snowing outside, not sure how much we are going to get. But
this staying in the house is terrible. It is so cold that I can't even go outside in the back yard and walk around with SAGE.

Nope I had the rashes that look like psoriasis while I was on Avonex. By the time I finally got the appt with the dermo, I had stopped taking Av about a month beofre and all of the weird rash things were cearing up. So he may very well be on target with that Copax theory. Good luck. I hope the creams work for ya.

says right on the phamplet that copaxone can exacerbate psoraisis. Since its my last hope before Ty, I am gonna have to find ways to deal.

I am already feeling much better with the high power steroid cream. Woo! go cream.

its all in the cracks of things. Cracks behind my ears, fanny crack, underarm crack, nose crack and so on. He said without intervention it would have just become a run away train. This cream will help me continue to ride the copaxone train till the cheesecake flavored pill comes out.

I was told 2 pills are in front of the FDA right now. lets hope!
