I had optic neuritis once in 1988. Complete loss of vision in right eye.

Timing is everything. The Optic Neuritis Treatment Trials had just started up. 3 day 240 mg/6 hr steroid IV thing - I was case number 1 at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit.

Vision came back ~ 90% within 6 months. Conclusion in my case - IV steroids didn't help nor hurt.

It's been 22 years - situation unchaged. Eyesight in right eye still slightly blurry.
