Default Keep on Moving Club: March 2010

MS sometimes makes it hard to keep moving, exercising, stretching, so we do less and less. Before long, its not just MS that interferes with our mobility and health, its also atrophy of muscle causing more balance problems and more muscle weakness.

So, we started a Club to support and encourage us to keep moving --You use it or you lose it! So, what do you do-- do you stretch, do you walk, shovel snow, swim, aquacise, isometrics, lift free weights, Wii,calisthenics? Please join the club.

I swim a mile a day. In 2004, I was so weak, I could not walk across a room. Now I swim a mile every single day and I do free weights twice weekly to help with osteoporosis prevention. Cherie (clinical1) was able to stop using her w/c after she religiously worked on a pool based stretch/exercise routine daily. If you want to try her routines, go to the following link and read how to do it:

http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/...t=80565&page=8

What do you do ?

One horse ride only today. Too windy for the spookydooky one. There's lions in the air when there's more than a breeze.
Other than that, sat on my behind all afternoon.

Well last week was a tough week...had a stomach flu that kept me confined to the house for Monday and Tuesday and left me weaving when I walked on Wednesday. Then Thursday morning, I had a basal cell carcinoma taken off of my nose, which left me with 11 stitches down the length of my nose and a bandage that made me look like a rhinoceros.

So I took it easy last week...no spin classes and no riding until Sunday. Saturday, I drove the support car for the rest of the team while they did a 57 mile route in the hills and wind.

Sunday morning I went out and worked a sign-in table for a group ride, then jumped on my bike after all 1000 or so had already pulled out, and chased down as many as I could catch. I caught my fair share of them over 38 miles at 17.3 mph, but the wind the last 10 miles really took it out of me. I was glad to be done...

I've been swimming and finding that my strength is slowly coming back to me.
I moved 60 tyres ready for seedling planting.
Been riding and training horses.
Been falling off horses and busting finger tips.
And I've been back at work!!! Yayyy.
