My feet are on fire!
I feel like I'm wearing flaming slippers. Or I'm walking across hot rocks. Make it go away! Anyone got any suggestions...I've tried neurontin (dont have any lyrica) and it's after 3am and I should probably be sleeping but am not because my feet are burning. At least the giant python around my stomach/ribs seems to have calmed down and might be taking a nap. (thanks to some flexeril) I think I need to buy myself a little foot tub that I can fill with ice water, or hot water depending on what my toes need when this crap is bugging me. I think I'll go duct tape some ice packs to my feet. Good thing I slept like 10hrs last night, because I dont think I'll be getting much sleep tonight.

I find walking right on top of them, helps. it also helps to massage them, or get a chiro adjustment.
I hate that feeling, like you are standing on very hot black top pavement, and have no shoes on. EEEEK! ![]() Feel better Erin ![]()

I tried a lot of stuff last night to help it. Tried wearing my shoes, wearing socks, barefoot. Wet washcloths...warm and cold...
Drove me bananas! The neuro-burn started to let up after about 4am. I finally fell asleep around 5am...just woke up a couple of minutes ago. Feet are still all tingly, but at least they're not burning yet. It does feel like the neuro-burn is not as intense. Right leg feels like it's the one being picked on by whatever is setting off the symptoms tho. I want to sleep some more, but the 12yr old house guest upstairs sounds like she's tap dancing on the floor...or something. Cant wait to get the house back to where there arent people waking me up all the time. I'm still so tired right now that I'm a little dizzy...I'm really hating this! Thing that bugs me is that the house guests dont think that stress can cause such bad MS symptoms. They dont think it's as bad as I'm describing. I think they need to try on the MS Symptoms Suit for a bit! Of course, they'll need a big shot of novocaine in their feet before putting it on!

Where can I get one of those suits? OMG! How that would help when people don't believe me because I always look healthy! Of course I would need one in "Crohn's" and one in MS/CNS issues, and one in sleep deficit resulting from the other two!

There's a thread on the forum somewhere, you'll probably have to search for it, where we were all thinking up different ways to describe the symptoms of MS.
We made up an imaginary symptom man (cant remember what we called him now) and then devised how to give him the symptoms of MS....duct taping flippers to his feet, making him wear glasses with the wrong Rx in them that are smeared with vaseline and covered in stuff so he couldnt see. The thread went for quite a while. I swear, anyone who thinks that MS "isnt that bad" needs to be strapped into the Symptom Suit for a week or two and also given liberal applications of novocaine in their extremities to simulate numbness. I know a few people this week who could use a month or so in the Symptom Suit as punishment for irritating me while I've been floating around in this stupid flare. Can you tell I'm grumpy? and it's not just the IVSM and the prednisone taper that's making me nuts. (houseguests still. will. not. leave. ARGGGH!!!)

I take Clonazepam for burning-type pain (Klonopin). Don't know if that would help the feet burning you're having. It certainly helps my pain/burning I have.

Plus I also bought some differnet foot lotions and found the peppermint one to be the best when my feet were on fire. It was very soothing and toned down the heat. Before I bought the foot bath I used to walk barefoot on the ceramic tiles to try and calm down the fire, but once I got the foot bath that wasn't necessary any more. Go for the footbath Erin. They work!

I use Biofreeze on my feet when they burn. Many PNers have this burning. It is the heat sensing nerves firing willynilly. When you stimulate the cold sensing nerves with menthol, they override the burning sensations. Biofreeze also has another name, more available in pharmacies called Perform.
Any foot cream with high percentage of menthol should work. Beware and read ingredients, since capsacisin is in some foot creams and this will REALLY make burning worse! Biofreeze is nice because it is a vanishing gel, and also has an antioxidant-- Ilex herb in it, which will work on inflammation.

The neuro-burn seems to have gone away on it's own (yaaaaaay!!!) but now I'm still having problems with my feet and ankles swelling from the stupid steroids. There's some burn on the side of my foot, but it's also an area that's really swollen, so I'm wondering if that tingle is from the swelling, or the weird neurological symptoms.
Oh, and I cant sleep. (it's almost 5am here) I have some weird numbness in my stomach and lower abdomen...and in at least one other area that's sensitive. That's just kind of bugging me, because it feels really weird. Especially around the stomach and abdomen. At least now my back, at this very minute, finally feels almost normal. I'm sure once I go to sleep and wake up sometime later today, I'll probably have the weird sensation back in my back and stomach. It's nice for the moment tho, to not have the big heavy beam/giant invisible plate of steel poking me in the back. Yay for steroids! (boo for steroids...stupid swollen ankles!)
