Default Montel Williams on Oprah

I know, I'm a little tired of Montel and his MS, as the rest of you, but if you missed this, it's well worth your time to watch all 4 videos.

I just finished watching all 4 and it only took about 30 mins to view them all. I'm glad I did and I hope you all get something out of it too.

It's not Montel that bugs me so much, it's the misinformation that Oz and Oprah keep putting out.

There is one thing about The Hug that I never believed until about two or three weeks ago. Montel says that your diaphragm freezes, and I just hadnt believed that...until I had that invisible pet python named Squeezee squeezing me around my ribs and stomach.

Ok...NOW I believe his description.

I dont even think I had it as bad as Montel describes, and I wanted to do anything to make it stop. I ended up stealing my mom's TENS unit and put it on the sides of my rib cage and my stomach. That helped a LOT! Didnt make it go away, but at least changed the sensation just enough that I didnt focus on it so much. Basically, I was tasering Squeezee into backing off a teeny bit.

I am upset that Montel charges so much for his silly juicer. Those with MS tend to be of lower income once they switch to SSDI, and we simply cant thow out $300 for a juicer, let alone spend all that money for buckets and buckets of fresh produce. Shame on you montel! He doesnt even have programs that gift or reduce for those in need. its all about the bottom line.

I have great respect for him,and his story, but ...have some reservations about his actions towards others who share his pain.

I never liked Montel Williams but now I do, but the economic things do matter very much. I'm one of the luckier ones, DH has a good paying job, I don't have to worry about $ besides the MS. It's hard enough as it is but I can cool my house, buy my grabbers and food, pay my mortgage and unfortunately but necessary, buy the good wheelchair (health insurance DME is not even close to enough for what I wanted)

I think Montel has done great things for MS awareness and his charity, is it still in operation?, had raised a lot of money for MS research.

Maybe he is just like so many of us that are trying to ensure a secure financial future despite, or because of, this miserable disease. I don't fault him for that or expect him to feel obligated to help others at every juncture just because he has been financially successful in his life.

I give three times as much money to animal charities as I do to MS charities. Because

#1 people have had more of an opportunity to help themselves and their families where as animals are helpess

and

#2 I want my MS money to got strictly to research and the NMSS doesn't focus on research as much as I would like.

I saw this when it first aired, before I suffered so from leg pain...I'm going to send this to the kids and DH...it explains the feelings perfectly.

Jules,

I share your passion for the animal and wildlife charities, but if you want an MS charity that is more focused on research, look into Clay Walker's Band Against MS (www.bandagainstms.org). I rode for their bike team this spring, and they do focus almost all of their funding on research.

Thats what I thought, Debbie. Like him or not, he did tell it like it is, for many of us.

MY DH was looking through the Heartland magazine that he gets (sells tons of things cheap). In it is the juicer from Montel selling for $199.99. Many of the electronic items in this magazine are often refurbished. I wonder if there were problems with the juicers and they had to be refurbished or if they just didn't sell and wound up in this magazine. Kind of funny that it's in the magazine just after I read this thread!!
