Default How do you carry on?

All too often I have plans, set for months, even . . . and when the day arrives I am in such horrible shape that I have to cancel, or be miserable. Often it is no big deal . . . but lately I have been canceling big deals all too often.

I am wondering how you cope with a really bad day falling on a really BIG day.

I try my best not to make long range plans. I know that sounds bad but it just stresses me out to know I have an "event" coming up. I'd much rather decide at the last minute to go and do something. If I can....I can and if I can't.....I can't.

Knowing that I have to be ready to do something at a certain time on a certain date just makes me anxious. I never used to be like this. Good thing I don't have much of a social life!

I did have plans to meet friends for dinner a couple of weeks ago and I was able to go......but all day I just kept expecting the other shoe to drop.....and if course it never did.

I never make plans. My friends and family know that. For years I always planned ahead and had 2 bail out at the last minute. Now I just take 1 day at a time.

I don't make social plans at all anymore....way too stressful.

Even the Holiday Celebrations are played by ear. My Family kind of likes it that way. No stress and we have just as much, if not more, fun.

One day at a time, Lefty.

I have figured out that with my MS I just don't have the critical thinking skills I used to have. For example, if I want to be 1 hour south of a city, where am I going to be. So with making my plans for our big vacation I just let AAA take care of everything and I mean everything. All I have to do is get in the car and travel. A loooooong way with 6 other people

As others have said, I also don't make many plans these days. There have been times when I've had to cancel doctor, dentist, etc., appointments because I just wasn't up to going. My family is used to "my schedule", so if I have to cancel something, they understand. I HATE THIS DISEASE!!!
