Okay- I will swear that all walls, doors, stairs and any type or kind of stores do not like me. Shopping (used to be a fun adventure)- now has turned into a complete disaster. Isles turn the vertigo on and make shopping twice as long and severely unsafe. Then when I have to get into the car just to drive- one mile home- it actuallly seems like it is an hour drive home due to being so sick with the vertigo and sometimes the vision thing also will kick in. Yippy!
Here are my two accidents to share: 1) Fell over dog gate. Brain not quick enough to respond to hand/arm "put arm down to break fall for body". Ended up landing on rib cage flat out. Required visit to doctor. No breaks- badly bruised ribs that took all summer to heal. 2) Stupidly took garbage to dumpster. It was only 20 feet away. No big deal I thought. DH told me to stay and not do anything. I felt so bad but wanted to help put things away while we camped. Took the garbage to the dumpster. Vertigo bad that day. Walking- very unbalanced and uncoordinated. Vision bad as well. Tripped over own feet, tripped over cement curb and then landed on feet, fell on hand and cut open thumb so bad it took a huge chunk of skin out of it. Wasn't able to put any weight on foot. It swelled and bruised instantly. We were worried that was broke. Luckily the x-ray came back clear but it was sprained and had to stay off of it and ice it for two weeks. Not much fun. However, a really good laugh though. |

I cannot ride a normal bike anymore. When we roll to a stop, I know that I need to take my foot off the pedal and place it on the ground to hold myself up. By the time my brain figures out that my foot needs to be placed on the ground I have fallen over. I just cant seem to co ordinate the action of it anymore.

OMG! You are bringing up my worst nightmare!!! Like you, I too have had horrible bike accidents over the last few years. One summer every single time we would go to stop or slow down I would literally fall off the bike, over due to no balance and coordination or just wreck.
This weekend we are going biking and I'm terrified. Basically- I'm going to bring a first aide kit with me. Just have a funny feeling that an accident is more likely to occur than not. It is interesting to know that others have the same issues with riding bikes. I'm glad I'm not alone with that. My sons think it is hilarious. I sure don't. Very humiliating. Then again if you are young and see a parent wreck constantly- it would be quite funny. We now can say that we are members of the 'crashed bikers association'! ![]() Hugs Coffeegirl |

Hmmm - maybe 'losing my legs' and going down like a ton of bricks crossing at the traffic lights of the two busiest city streets in Sydney - just after the 'do not walk' sign started flashing and the traffic lights turned red.
Lucky for me, I had my two, best, totally able friends to scoop me up and get me to safety. Lyn |

hubby is getting me a three wheel bike. They are pretty cheap. I am scared to try a normal bike anymore.

![]() Dej- I'm all with you on the three wheel bike thing. Your DH is really nice getting you that bike. The two wheel bike is like danger on wheels. Every time I ride that two wheeled bike I have numerous accidents every time I ride it... Interesting??? Wonder why!!??? ![]() Lyn- You are so fortunate your friends were with you. Good grief.. That sounds scary!! Clark- Don't worry. I'm still trying to learn this lingo thing too and have been online for a while. It is a never ending language thing. Don't sweat it. Always ask when you don't know. ![]() Coffeegirl |

Before I was diagnosed I rode my bike into a parked car. And it looked so neat and easy watching my young neighbor roller-blade. We had the same foot size so she lent me her blades to try. I used to roller-skate when younger but this time I promptly fell down. Thank goodness I never got a chance thento go skiing and crash into a tree|!!
