I used to get pressure around the middle and feel I could not get a complete breath. I am told this was partial paralysis of those muscles. I do not know if this is the "hug". I realized after a while that it was usually associated with drugs I did not do well with. The
last time this happened it was with Lyrica given to ease nerve pain after Shingles in my hip and leg. I stopped Lyrica and it went away. When I was much younger and less experienced I got this a lot, and it was no fun. It's one reason I'm scared of new drugs.
There are some drugs which do NOT produce this effect.
