DH has taken it upon himself to "help me" get in better shape. We both vowed to go to bed earlier, watch less TV, get up earlier and walk. at least 30 minutes each day. DH has been on a weight loss kick and now that I am trying to loose a couple of pounds he thinks he found a buddy.
5:45 AM! DH creeps into my room (yes, he has his own room) and says "you ready?!" my first thought was @5am? REady for what?! Then he said "I laid your shoes out and im ready when you are. Meet you outside! He was like a little kid! um...ok...I guess im getting up. Put my shoes on, sprayed myself with natural bug repellant (black flies, deer flies and ticks are thick now) and off I went. I swear with each passing quarter mile, he stood taller, got firmer, and stepped faster. I kept up for a while, but finally had to say HEY! im not a recruit! slow it down Sarge! He said he was determined to help me beat this MS thing, and that if that takes a walking buddy to motivate me in the morning, he is the man for the job! OMG! I have created a monster! Altho I did walk 3 miles today at a much better pace than I expected. I was sweating, and starving by the time we got back home. Have I joined the Marines? Did I create a monster? Please dont worry, I am a tough enough girl that if I cant take it, I WILL tell him to get away from me, but maybe he has a point. I see all of these magazines about all of these women who run, jump, ski, and have MS. They all say the more they do, the more they feel they can do. Even with no balance, blind from Uhthoffs, or hugged by the hug. They are out there. Can I be one of them? or will this lead to IVSM? Lets see! I went blind on our walk this morn, as I normally do, but after i cool off it comes back, and he was there as my guide. So, that problem is solved. I had some lactic acid burn off, but he was there to cheer lead me thru it and after a min the burning stopped. I had a big hug moment, so we slowed down, and he coached me on breathing till it passed, so that is solved. He turned out to be a good road buddy after all. Should I go for it?

on a side note I will admit that this place is wonderful in the quiet of the morning. No dogs are out. very few people are out, and they are busy on their own routine. The lake is empty of boats, people and tourists. The whole area was peaceful and serene and we talked, and chatted, and caught up to each other. I forgot how peaceful 5am can be. I used to rise each morning for sunrise prayers and stopped it a while back. I was able to meet my sunrise prayer while walking the roadside that btw was empty of cars that normally zoom up and down the street all day.
Weird, but I kinda got a glimpse of the old me hiding behind the girl with ms. strange.

Early morning is so peaceful. I love it. It's a great time to reflect and rejoice. I'm glad you have the safety of having DH with you. Just do what you can do. I'd go for it!

Good luck in Boot Camp, Dej! I'm proud of you for taking this step and I think it's awesome of your DH to be there to cheer you on and help you through Boot Camp.
BTW - I love early mornings too! It is so quiet and peaceful and I love to listen to the birds singing their morning songs as the sun rises. It's also cooler out in the morning and I sit outside with my cup of coffee and listen and pray. It's a beautiful time of day. Last edited by tkrik; 06-08-2011 at 11:05 AM. Reason: typos |
