Default May Have Second Disease Plus MS

I had an appointment with my MS specialist this past Tuesday. He went over my MRI scans with me, saying there was no change.

He said that he believes there is something there other than the MS, and he's going to do his best to find out what it is.

I had a lumbar puncture, which wasn't too bad. However, because of my age and weight, he wasn't able to pierce the spinal canal to retrieve spinal fluid. He then had me sit on the exam table, leaning over with my arms on a walker and my chin tucked on my chest. That worked perfectly.

He is also sending me for a sleep study due to snoring and fatigue. I'm also to begin PT to help with my walking/balance.

He is having me wean myself off of Flexeril first and then Baclofen. He said that these may be making me excessively sleepy. He did say if my muscle spasms return and are bad, I'm to restart the meds.

Time will tell. I'm trying to think positively and not obsess about the diagnosis, at least until I get the diagnosis.

im glad he is being thourough with you. I have several diseases. some caused by MS and others not.

MS
Sjoghrens
Gastroparesis
balance disorder

it is entirely possible to have more than one auto immune disease. Many have arthrititis and MS or diabetes and MS or other such combos. Im glad your MD isnt stopping at the MS gate saying thats that.

Good luck.

That's certainly bittersweet news. Nobody wants ONE disease, much less more than one, but if something else is diagnosed that can be treated and relieve some of your symptoms, then that would be a plus.

I'll be anxious to hear your updates. Good luck on not obsessing. I do that so well that I'm thinking of hiring out.

Maryann- How are you sweetie? Welcome to the "Wow we found more carp wrong with you" club.

Let's see, before I had MS, I was dx'd with Graves Disease, and I was Bipolar.

Now I also have MS, Degenerative Joint and Disc Disease, Arthritis, Neurogenic Bladder, possible Schuerman's Disease and who knows what else.

Hopefully they can figure it out and fix something for ya.

Hope all is well aside from that.

Ah Mair, I'm sorry to hear this. Do they think an infection or Lyme's disease? He said your MRI scan had no change, so that is good, right?

Did he say what else he is looking for or give you a hint? I hope you can wean off your meds. I heard Baclofen is hard to get off of. Maybe a replacement med to help wean you off it?

I pray that nothing serious is found, and that you can be easily fixed with just pixie dust or a magic wand.

I wish you a good luck with PT. PT may help your fatigue too.

I have a boat load of other diseases/disorders. I gather them too.

Let us know what the doctor says. We care.

Actually, he mentioned two things. One was PPMS, the other was Parkinson's. Of course I don't want either of those. Whatever it/they are, I'll just have to adjust like I've been adjusting with MS for so many years. Thanks everyone for your good words and hugs.

Hey Mair. Happy Passover. Get the feeling that you are being plagued?

I weaned myself off Baclofen during this past year. I did not realize how tired it did make me. Plus I think on of the side effects is muscle weakness.

I hope getting off that med makes you feel better. And your doctor can figure out the puzzle called Mair.
