Default The Headaches, OMG the headaches!

why am I bumping into fresh batches of headaches? I went on vacation and didnt have a single one. Now that I am home, for the last 5 days in a row I have had visual migraine (the flashy cant see visual stuff) followed by regular migraines (hurts on one side, generally with nausea) I am running out of patience! I saw the chiro and she said I was all out of shape, and she did help, but they are back as strong as ever today.

Is it the weather? The season (pollen is everywhere!) the disease? the brain tumor? the irritation with the summer neighbors? stress?

This has to stop! I cant read my emails, play my games, visit my fav websites, watch TV, read a book, knit, or whatever! I am tired of playing blind mans bluff. Thank Goodness the DH will drive me where ever I need to go. I cant tell if the dish I am washing is clean, unless I feel it.

Is this the end of my good vision? did I wait too long to start my vacations to go see things? grrrr....im tired of my head hurting! Before you say call the MD. I have been examined by the best of the best and they all agree...have no idea! I have had CT scans, MRIs, blood tests, optic tests where they dialate your eyes and use microscopes to look in, and visual field tests. If this is ON again, I may...that I may resort to steroids but I prefer to save them for the severe stuff as they have consquences and I want to avoid them if possible.

anyone else? Got any get rid of headache tips? tricks? advice? Talk to me! im going crazy over here!

It could be this crazy weather we're all having. I've had a dull, throbbing headache everyday this week. It's not so bad that I can't see or function but it's enough that it bothers me and makes me feel mildly sick at my stomach. I chalk it up to the heat. Yes, I do stay inside but the air is thick and the pollen is still floating around out there.

I've just been drinking as much water as I can. Make sure you're not dehydrated. Needless to say, all I ever seem to do now is drink water and run back and forth to the bathroom. I try to eat small meals 4 to 6 times a day versus larger ones less often. But in this heat nothing really sounds good. Watermelon and popsicles are my favorites right now.

Water water water! Up your magnesium as well (consult the pharma or GP). It's said that magnesium can help headaches quite a lot.

Other than that, I've lived with almost daily headaches for so long now, I have so few headache free days, I can't even recall the last.

My Cesamet (Nabilone) helps the ones that are directly resulting from MS (the dull throbbing pain in my left side of my head, or Trigeminal Neuralgia attacks). For regular headaches, I take regular tylenol. If more severe, I have tylenol 1's to fall back on if needed.

If I find the headaches are more to due possible with tension (tight muscles, etc) I'll take Aleve.

Hot baths draw the pain out of my head. I know many with MS can't tolerate hot water or environments, so this may not be a good idea.

If you find you can't 'shake' the headache, call your neuro, or GP if you can't reach the neuro. If you're having aura (migraines with visuals), my neurologist swears these are classic migraine and not MS. You may need something stronger on a script to 'break' through the pain you're in right now.

Headaches are tricky... they come in all shapes and sizes. I find too that knowing your triggers (for me, it's hormones, BIG time) helps immensely.

I don't have headaches but I do have visual migraines occasionally,
and 250 mg of non-flush niacin keeps them away. Opens up the vessels. Now
I don't know if classical migraines have open or closed vessels, so this would not
be good if your vessels are already open a lot.

For just dimness of vision it is possible Luetine Eyes would help. It's for macular degeneration. I do not have macular, but my parents did have, at relatively young ages, so mine is preventive. And of course I presume you are getting a little Vitamin A in a
multivitamin? Mine is low dose all food source Megafoods Without Iron.

I just ordered some Nattokinase which I'll experiment with to reduce blood viscosity, which is a danger with high platelets--I don't know if this would be good for you, but it's a possibility. People take it instead of Warfarin. I have not tried it yet. And I take Vitamin E complex which is a mild blood thinner. (NOW brand Gamma E complex).
Just guessing at the cause of your misery of eyes.

I had ON or whatever it was for 8 years, with blind spot, double vision, pain in light,
inability to watch TV, and could not have run a computer. So I know what semi-blind is.
No fun.

Dejibo, I forgot to say that pollution in the house could be doing this. You were OK on
vacation. In the house you know the main possible culprits? New rug or rug pad, new furniture with stain resistant spray, new cabinets which have formaldehyde not yet outgassed (we had to coat ours with Environmentally Safe stuff) room freshener, gas leaking, mold, and of course that pollen that is irritating you. Constant battle and sometimes it's hard to figure what. Ours was primarily formaldehyde in new rug--had the whole house tested.

My MD called in a script for prednisolone eye drops. he said if the optic nerve is irritated, this should help calm it down, without having to go the internal route.

I have bottle after bottle of pain relievers in this house. From advil to dilaudid so I am all set on that, and tend to not want to use any of them, because they make you so sleepy and sooooo constipated! I take 2 mag tablets at night, and that helps me sleep. I am drinking enough water, and staying hydrated. Hmmm...perhaps I can add to that.

I rest when they come on, and try to not stress my self visually as it will make a visual migraine go nuts. Most visual migraines last about 10 minutes. Mine can last 2 hours! then go away, get a normal migraine, and followed up by yet another 2 hour stint with visual migraine.

I am just wearing thin. you can do most any ordeal for a day or two, but when you start running on a week of it, you start getting out of reserves. I have company coming on Saturday so I need to be ready! DH will do whatever I ask, so thats good.

ENOUGH! I get the point! I have MS. let me get some pleasure things in.

I pray you will find a solution soon. I hate when one of my friends is in pain.

Feel better soon Dej. I have horrible headaches also but mine are mostly Sinus and the hot and humid weather here doesn't help.

Do you by any chance get regular massages? Maybe with the allergy season, you also have tense muscles? I am going to make another massage appointment for next week and I am going to ask that she massage my head as well. It feels so good to get my scalp massaged and manipulated, I may be a strange duck?

I do get regular massages and she told me I feel like I am "in flair" and that upset me. She can tell when I am in flair and just tense. The chiro is willing to see me everyday if I need it. I am going back today. I have tried to not lay in bed as that can make the circulation sluggish and the lactic acid build up, so I walked again today. 2 miles! I was almost in tears by the time I saw the house again, but it will do me good.

The headaches are one sided so that is migraine or brain stuff, not muscle stuff. Muscle stuff goes up and over the top of your head. my vision is all screwy all fuzzy and out of focus. this could be contributing to my headache as my eyes cant really tell my brain what its looking at.

I am growing quite weary of this. And of course JAck the cat needs a shot today. poor thing.
