Btw, thanks for putting up with me here. My board (Per. Neurop) is boring. Just a bunch of sickies, lol.

:You-Rock: Cyn, sounds like when I tried to use a regular Tylenol (dissolving) on my gum where I had pain (thinking it was toothache... of course now I know better). I gagged for like, 30 minutes afterward. It may help dental pain, but WOW Tylenol tastes awful beyond words. |
Wishing won't make it so but I do wish. I wish cannabis was legal like alcohol, cigarettes. I wish people were not so conditioned against its use.
So far, it has not had any evil consequences in my experimentation. I wish I could share my products, especially right now. Back before getting too sick to hold a small job, I worked for a chain home goods store. It was a lot of fun, I loved helping people buy things, I loved unpacking the things that went on the shelves. I worked with fun people. I had a good manager. Each branch is in a healthy competition with the other stores in the area. When I applied for a job, I was hired immediately at the location but I had a great relationship with the manager at a different store. I was very good at getting people to open a store account. Employees received "prizes" as an incentive. I am not sure how it happened but the other manager challenged me to a personal duel to see if he or I could get the most people to sign on for a personal credit card. It was a crazy day. If an employee could get ONE person, it was an accomplishment. That day was magic. I would simply suggest and a customer would nod and sign up. Every time I got ahead, he would call because he got one too. It was crazy, I averaged two an hour and he matched me. It forged a fond memory of the day between us. When I now want to haunt the aisles for house stuff, I go to his store because it is more in my neighborhood. He is a good looking guy and always has a smile for me. His store has a better atmosphere. All the employees are more relaxed than where I used to work. He is more friendly than my old boss. With her, it is awkward. But it has been a long time since I had that small job. At the same time as my dx, he was dx'ed with a debilitating brain tumor. He had been in remission but the tumor is back and growing aggressively. Despite the pain, he still is a handsome guy with a smile for me. MMJ is supposed to help reduce tumors, it did it for my friend's nephew when he had a tumor in his chest. Paying for a cannabis card in AZ is expensive and law enforcement has made it even more difficult in spite of state legalization. Wishing won't make it so but I wish the system understood that a good man could be helped. Marijuana would not hurt. |
Bummer about your friend. Did you talk to him about mmj? If it's legal in your state and he has a brain tumor, I don't think there would be a problem getting a card.
I wish the protestors in NY would add legalization to their list of gripes. Of course if they did, they would be dismissed as 'dopers' and the cause would probably suffer. It's a frustrating situation as a patient. Anyone close to me knows I have an rx, but I really can't let the entire world know. I keep it from my parents (85 y.o.) because it would stress them out because of the way they have been conditioned over the years. Too bad really, because my mom is bed ridden and takes enough pain meds to kill a horse. Too bad everyone can't just add a few plants to their vegetable garden and call it a day. |
I have an idea! Let's Occupy the DEA!

A few things to add.
We vacationed for a weekend in San Diego and had a few hours unscheduled so we walked into a local dispensary. Not sure of what is happening in California but the tension of a non customer was intense. I told the receptionist that I was just seeking information, I did not want to put the dispensary in jeopardy but she just kept telling me to leave. We went into a less high profile area to a second dispensary and although the guy was nicer, the tension was still palpable. I tried an edible called "Cheeba Chew." It was the size of a link of a large tootsie roll, soft like one. It was a quad dose which meant I cut the link in quarters. Ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, soy oil, milk, coco, whey, flavoring and THC extract. It was peanut, tree nut and gluten free. Tasted fine. Strong enough to give some relief and not strong enough to create any discomfort. I have tried a few different strains in bud form in the vaporizer. The Pineapple is still the best so far in terms of how it makes me feel. I upped my dosage. I have been so conservative that upon review, it seemed as if I was saying I tried MMJ but with such a low amount, it really was not enough to truly medicate. The negative with the vaporizer is no matter what, inhaling still makes me cough and affects my lungs as it did when I was a cigarette smoker. If I had the nicotine habit, I do not think the effects of the vaporizer would be an issue. Edibles are okay. I am hoping to get enough to experiment and make my own sweets. |
Caretaker #1 and I were talking about his attendance at a medical convention. He met an MSer in remission.
She juices her cannabis. Raw. Do you think cannabis works if the THC is not heated? I juice every day. I have a Vitamix and it is easy to make a smoothie getting veggies and fruits in a delicious form. I even made roasted tomato soup (and then made a grill cheese sandwich) for dinner. This has nothing to do with MMJ!:D I love my Vitamix. Expensive but worth every penny with my daily use. Again, does anyone think cannabis can be effective raw? |
Don't you smoke it raw?
Well, duhhhhhh!!! Forget that. |

Pineapple is great to mask the flavor of spinach. In fact, if I made you a smoothie, you may not even know spinach is in the drink. With that in mind, it may mask the taste of cannabis. I can't smoke cannabis, my lungs hated me when I tried that method. I had the taste of MJ every time I exhaled a breath for three days. No medication relief would be worth smoking for me. I don't like the trade off. So looking at alternatives. I just do not know if cannabis raw will work. |

I'm not an expert, but you got me thinking of all the information I've read about raw versus cooked vegetables, and how cooking (heating) depletes veggies of certain nutrients. I say give the raw a try! :) |

Hey there! I am so glad to hear you're doing well with this. Don't eat it raw, the cannabinoids need to absorb into something fatty (cannabinoids cling to fat), eating it raw will have little effect and probably won't do too much for relieving symptoms. You can most definitely ingest cannabis and it do miracles for your symptoms. If you're interested in more info, message me and let me know. :) |
I have not posted on this thread in a while. I did not have anything new to contribute other than continuing to vaporize but not really getting much beneficial effect.
The problem was that I felt a bit more relaxed but not really and it did not last more than 20 minutes before fading. Not really my thing to get up and "smoke" so much. The study has begun but it was more trying to garner customers in the coming years and also to get my seeds in order to start a farm. But my study caregiver did give me a mystery brand to try and also a small amount of cannabutter. So here is good news though. I took the small bit of cannabutter and made a toffee treat. No MJ taste at all, just sugar and empty calories. I decided to start nibbling at four PM and time it for an hour, then nibble again. Just a new way to approach MMJ. I am thrilled to report that my spasms relax and I can watch TV or go to sleep without nasty flexing jerking my body. I thought it was just a coincidence but it has been about five days of this pattern. MMJ is actually working. I was compelled to log this because I see that B2Y is having problems and I wanted to share my findings. DH also made cannabutter. It smelled the house but not as bad as anticipated. I had been given a strong candle so we lit it to try to deal with the stink. The butter took a day to render. DH made a batch of brownies and they taste absolutely awful. Don't even want to choke one down and nibbling is such a mental turn off. I am going to try my toffee recipe and see if it will mask this particular batch. |
Great!! Do you have the same recipe for cannabutter, as your study caregiver?
|
Mmmm, Toffee treats! Please send Sally and I a sample for research. :D

Yeah, what surfer said..:D:p

Since jerks and spasms are one of my big problems, I might be interested in marijuana, if I can't control these with magnesium, as I do now. I need at least 1000 mg of magnesium, however, nothing less will do. I do not know know if MJ would affect Porphyria, one of my other diseases, which make me react with an attack to many substances, but not all. I don't think MJ is on any safe/unsafe drug list for porphyria that I know of. I don't know if anyone on the Porph list takes it other than a dear friend in Australia, who does love the brownies, and they are one of the only things she can take, so possibly I COULD take it, if she can. I am probably not in an area where it would be as easy to find as in Phoenix (i am in Los Alamos, a scientific community in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico). Anyway, magnesium is working for me for now.

For Mother's Day DS (20) gave me a joint, saying "It's an unconventional present but you said you wanted some" He and his twin sister found it all hilarious and some of their friends do know and giggled. DD was a little amazed at me knowing what to do (hey, I went to HS in the 70's). Smoking is way too harsh for me throat, I like the ease of popping my Vicodin, MJ didn't seem better to me but if things changed, I'd try MMJ seriously.

New Research re: MMJ, MS and PN
You know it's nice to be proven right occasionally ....

I feel great deal of anger towards the federal govt for putting pressure on the dispensaries that provide cannabis. I do understand that the stance is that these dispensaries are giving cannabis to clients who are not trulyt in need of medical cannabis.
Still, it's like punishing a whole class of kids for one bad student's behavior. I still believe that big pharmas are putting pressure on the President to close them all down. |
Interesting to note that 11 states have legalized the use of MMJ but for odd reasons, a few states are highlighted. AZ is doing its normal monkey business trying to block dispensaries.
There was a very limited lottery to award dispensaries. One of my caretakers, #2 guy, got the go-ahead. He called my DH all excited. He has the best stuff, toys like pen vaporizers. I like the pot pen the best. He was hoping DH and I would make cannabutter but DH is busy and I just do not have the interest right now. Plus I let my card expire. I have plenty of buds to last me for a long time so no need to pay the state, especially when the governor is making it so ridiculous. |
