Had an awesome day! I haven't had a low pain day in a very long time. That was today! :) I got all my chores done, and got a lot of exercise, and R&R, in as well.
I wish I could bottle these days. |
My left leg on the outside just above the ankle is experiencing nasty spasms/neuropathic pain off and on...no meds are helping it. It comes and goes, but it hurts like the dickens when it's on.
I'm staying inside as much as possible this week...I don't want the heat to make things worse...:( |
I'm with you Debbie, keeping inside in the A/C. My advice is for all of youse guys to stay out of this oppressive heat and humidity.. Did ya hear that Dej & Txbatman?
|
Feeling overall well today, but staying near the A/C now, very humid out and will likely storm.
|
over heated mah self! dangit. :(
|
Dej, you know better, girl...hope you feel better soon...
I am not sleeping well, so I feel like a wet noodle...just sat in my recliner and napped off and on all day...feel so useless:( |
I hate doctors! Warning -- this is going to be a long vent!
On Friday, I received the results of my colonoscopy which stated I had active colitis. The letter said the doctor wanted me to submit a stool sample and then start a new med. I called the doctor, talked to the nurse in the morning and told her I was on antibiotics and taking miralax as prescribed everyday. Should I still do the test or wait? Should I stop the mirlalx? The antibiotics? She said the antibiotics would not affect the results but she would check with the doctor regarding my questions. Nurse did not call back. So I went in this morning, picked up the necessary vials at the lab, and asked to speak to the nurse. She obviously had not heard back from my doctor yet. Did she go ask him my questions? I saw him sitting in his office. No! She probably is not supposed to. She said she would call me. So I go to the drugstore and pick up the new med (24.00) and go home. I go ahead and provide them with a sample(:o) since the opportunity presented itself and take it back out to the clinic. I just got a call from the nurse (4:00). Doctor said I should wait 48 hours before I provide sample and that I should not start taking the new med until they got the results of the cultures. Hopefully since I stopped taking the antibiotic on my own on Friday, it will not affect the results. Luckily I had not taken any of the pills. That has been my day. Plus it is hot and humid.:( |
I had a dreadful sleep. I haven't had a BM (sorry to get personal) in many days now, and I look 5 months preggo as a result.
I laid down to sleep last night, and my stomach was a mess of cramping, gas etc. It felt like a wasteland, and was painful. Needless to say I did not rest well, and it took forever to fall to sleep. Went out for my walk this morning at 8:30 ... it was nice and cool out, sunny too. Until about 1/2 way through the walk, then it was a wall of heat and humidity (the sun woke up and remembered it was summer) and so I had to slow it down a bit and pace the rest of the way home. Oddly, the H&H affected me more (negatively) today than 2 days of walking approx 20km (Sunday/Monday) combined, and this is the morning humidity, not nearly as bad as that of yesterdays. I figure the lack of sleep + all else aren't making for a nice 'brew' today. I hope the work day goes by quickly. Head's doing its usual left side neuralgia pains, but that's the norm. Neck/shoulder muscles are a bit sore today. I did feel very nauseous last night, and blamed that on the stomach, but perhaps I had a bit of a flu? Chin up and battle on! |
SleEPy..going back to bed.. :Wave-Hello:

It's not that hot (yet) but I'm uncomfortable due to a couple of non-MS issues, plus it's one of those days when it hurts to sit too long AND hurts to stand too long. Definition of too long: about 10 minutes.
So I'm constantly standing up, going "uuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhh oo ow ow ow", then ten minutes later, sitting down, going "UFFFF, oo ow ow ow". It would probably help me and my husband if I could just do it quietly, but I JUST CAN NOT. |
Stood at the register at two pharmacies ordering things for the I laws and myself...had to shift weight from leg to leg because of painful spasms...grrr.
Spent the afternoon in a drape-drawn house keeping cool. |

The humid weather makes the MS, the arthritis, the IBS, and my attitude all worse. My attitude is gruesome.

Well, this isn't MS related, but it's sure NOT what I needed on top of the pain caused by my MS.
On the part of my head where I get the most nerve pain (neuralgia) I have what i believe to be a cyst forming. Top of the head, to the left side, on the scalp. It's been getting worse over the week (at first I figured it would be short lived) but it's to a point now where I can't sleep on my left side (pressure from anything gracing it/touching it is too much). I laid awake a good while last night feeling the pain of it. So now I may have to go to the after hours clinic today to see if I need an antibiotic to try and knock it down, or if they'll have to get me under the blade to remove this sucker (wouldn't be the first cyst I've had to have removed - though the others were on my back/shoulders). Aren't genetics and heredity fantastic? Thanks Mom for the cysts on head! Sigh... she's had her's operated on over the years with recurrence, so I'm hoping to avoid the blade at this point. MS isn't so bad today, but isn't so great either. I blame the weather for the increase in pain. It's up and down again, cool/warm/hot, wet/dry, calm/windy. Yay living on the East Coast. :p |
I'm either getting a cold or am allergic to something. I have been sneezing since yesterday. Is there something blooming or growing outside that is giving anyone else these sx? I don't feel bad....no sore throat or cough. No fever. Just sneezing.
|
OK, Dej, Laura, Kelly and to whom else it may concern.... I have declared today a "stick it where the sun don't shine" day for all MSers and beyond.
Why should you all drag your hurting weak bodies out into that noonday sun? Give it a rest, stay in your A/C, in front of a fan, fridge or put your feet up on a block of ice. The weather and the stagnant air out there are not good for us. We must avoid it at all costs and as much as we can. Follow my lead:D..:grouphug: |
The air is much healthier when filtered through ice cream.

i cancelled my errands, and I am hiding at home. I just dont care today. :(

Hi, Shani! Welcome to the neighborhood!
|
Welcome Shani! Nice to meet you!
I went to the clinic. Confirmed. Cyst. Top of the head. Painful. Glad the doc gingerly examined it. I have a prescription now for Cloxacillin (Penicillin type drug) that I'll take 4 times a day for 7 days, trying to reduce the size of this cyst with medication (hopefully knock it out all together). I'd rather avoid knives! Well, the MS took a bit of a slide today in the humidity. Laura thought it would be smart to walk a few blocks after clinic to get a coffee and use the restroom, and then backtrack to the bus stop. Don't know how long I was out walking, but my back was dripping sweat when I got home, then I logged back on to begin working again, and my pain all around (MS) started to show it's ugly head. It was a tough day looking at that monitor and keeping my head together when calling clients to discuss banking. Ugh.......... I'm feeling a lot better tonight after playing my Wii and then soaking in the tub. Now I'm back to recouping by the A/C unit. |

MS is being pretty mellow right now, even with this heat. |
welcome Shani!
Dont get me started on the mail system around here. More frequently than not, I open my door in the AM to find packages laying against my door. Why does the UPS guy not knock or ring the bell? DH went out last night to lock his truck, and found our new expensive internet connected Blu Ray player on the steps. Just sitting there, and a not attached to it saying "delivered!" REally?? what if one of these unscupulous neighbors came to visit and took off with it? Did he write down that he HANDED it to me? or did he not that he left it at the door? There is a big dif if you claim you didnt get it. Anyway, we did get it, and I set it up this morn. Whoo! fancy! I got a refurbished machine so it was a song, but what a great player. |
Humidity is doing a number on my legs. Doing the Frankenstein Walk.
|
The nervy, tingling, numb, and squeezing hug is back this morning. Bring on the ice.
|
I can't believe it's Friday, already. Yest, they were bragging here that it was the hottest day of the year. Oh goodie, NOT!!!:( But the record high for yest was in 1935 @ 105!
My body doesn't like it at all and is rebelling. I'm spasmy, achy, sleepy, headachy, grumpy, sweaty, groany, moany, mopey, dopey:mad: and yet, happy that I have A/C.:D Today it's only supposed to climb to 94..woohoo..not!! |
Yep, it is hot! I went with a friend to a farmer's market and out to lunch. Banks temps are saying anywhere between 95 and 98.
I heard back from gastro doctor. All texts were negative. So I just have good old fashioned colitis caused by inflammation. Started the meds at lunch. |
finally is a bit COOLER with a nice, soft, COOL breeze ...
feeling better ... can paint ... going for a walk to the mailbox (haven't been that way for 2 days .. because of the heat) ... so, I'm feeling GOOD ... and not sweating like a dripping faucet ... stay cool everyone - as the heat rises in your areas!! trying to send some cooling ... remember the winter??? |
A cool breeze, that sounds so sexy!!!:D
|
Wow, do I post here or the pity party thread? Decisions, decisions.
I'm grumpy because we've had three days of a heat wave that we can't even call a heat wave, at least not at our personal house. It's stayed just a shade (ha) below 90...88.9, 89.4, etc. and humid, so we get all the benefits with the official designation. Towns just a few miles away were in the mid-90's. Not that I'm jealous!!! Ever since I was a kid, excessive or extended heat has just microwaved my innards, giving me the "hurry-ups", as Mom called it. Doesn't seem fair to be stewing hot, PLUS meeting myself coming and going from the "hey mom" room. Guess you could call it the pity potty. |
okay - I was in error ... the cool breeze did NOT last ...
I'm melting ... no breeze ... BUT ... R2 is making life bearable (my little rolling A/C unit looks like R2D2 ... so, I named it!) does that mean my mind is melting, too?? |
I'm getting tired of being stuck in the house. My DH and I don't have the best of relationship at times but then he can be so sweet. He always goes out to the car and cools it down before I go out. When I see him pull out of the driveway and up to the front door I know the car is cool. But today he went one step further. When I got in the car he had my sunglasses in front of the vent cooling them off so they wouldn't be to hot for me. I can get so boiling mad at him and then he does something like that for me. He also told me that when he was out doing his usual karoake the other night a man came over and told him that his Mom wanted to meet him. He told him thank you but that he was a happily married man of 39 years. I guess I shouldn't be so mad at him not getting me a birthday present. I think he rather enjoys seeing me play with all the electronic things I buy for myself when he doesn't get me anything.

I had weird sxs today... Was running errands , when I suddenly was doing the drunk walk, got a squeezing type headache and felt "weird"... You know what I'm taking about.
I went home and parked on the recliner after lunch for 3 hrs. Felt good enough to finish crocheting the baby blanket I've been working on and even straightened up the place a bit. The problem was heat related I guess... It's been a rough week.:( |
Not bad at all today, though I kicked a headache out of the picture earlier via Tylenol 1 (yay codeine...boo my stomach). Stayed indoors, far too hot and humid outdoors to imagine heading out (30c, felt like nearly 40c for us).
Did walk before 9 am this morning though, when it was still quite cool. I'm glad my days off (Sunday, Monday) are going to be significantly cooler in comparison. |
