Howdy everyone!!!!!

I only cat nap these days. My doctor told me to try Lunesta 2mg. What can i expect from it? I get nervous trying new meds. When should I take it?
Can it be taken with benadryl?

By all means, talk with your pharmacist!!!!

I have a young female relative who had really scary side effects. Of course, no drug is without side effects, and she might be the rare bird, but I'd do some more research.

I had taken Ambien CR for months until my insurance stopped covering it. It worked very well. My problem was that I could not stay asleep all night. I did not take it every single night in fear that I may become addicted to it. I did not have any of the side affects like sleep walking or anything...I personally would NOT take it with Benedryl...I think they both cause sleepiness. Another thing,, I did not feel druged in the morning with Ambien like you can with Benedryl.

I have been on Lunesta 2mg, now 3mg. probably three years now. The doctor put me on it when I was on Lyrica, so I could sleep during the night. I haven't had any trouble with it. I have so many aches and pains once I lay down, it helps with that and just helps me drift to sleep easier. Once in a great while, like every two weeks, I have a lot of pain in my legs and cramps, hips hurt, it won't work right away, but most the time it does. I wake up at usual time, have overslept a couple of times, but I don't use an alarm.
It is a tier three co-pay for me, so I applied online for a Lunesta card, it is paying my $50 co-pay, so I pay $0, which has been nice. I also do that for my Dexilant for reflux.
Good Luck MM, Have never taken Benedryl with it, but take Clonazepam twice a day, hasn't changed how Lunesta works for me.

MD gave DH a rx for ambien, and he was up half the night doing stuff. I took it away from him. We put him on something much less strong, and much easier to control. Have you considered a bit of ativan or xanax? Hubby went on Ativan 0.5 at night. helps alot.

lunesta is a sleep med. i tried it but it didn't work for me. i take ambien CR.
medicare doesn't cover it but my dr did an exception and they covered it.

don't take it during the day. take it before bed and get into bed about 15 min after you've taken it. just monitor how you do. you might use a night lite in your bedroom/bathroom in case you're a bit wobbly if you get up during the nite.

anyone can side effects from any med but i believe lunesta is a gentler sleep med. ambien packs a bigger punch.

remember that you can also become tolerant to it, needing a larger dose after a period of time. talking to your pharmacist is a great idea.
