Default ON strikes again.

well, I have double vision in one eye. Both eye lids are swollen, and itchy. I feel like someone put their cigarette out in my right eye. When I cover my left, the right splits into two pictures.

I have my steroid drops, and steroid ointment, and I am going to do nothing that strains my eyes past this message board, my email, and a tiny bit of facebook. no TV, no real internet, and rest....just rest.

I am working hard to avoid IVSM as its so toxic and so harmful, but if its still kicked up after we come back from vaca on late thursday I will call on Friday to get it set up.

Its not the worst its ever been, but I certainly dont feel my best either.

Any advice?

I'm sorry Dej . I don't have any suggestions beyond the IVSM. That's what I did in the past for ON. I hope it clears up quickly. It is hellascious.

Sorry this has happened....especially right before vacation time. I remember ON and how painful it was. Resting your eyes is a good thing. I hope it clears up quickly.

IV SM is intra venous solumedrol or steroids at 100x the rate of the pills they can give you. its a massive blow to your system to start such stuff, and I prefer to not do it unless I have to.

I was able to rest my eyes by allowing my DH to drag me around town like a blind woman. its a traffic stopper if you see a man and a blind woman in the cross walk at least.

things are on the mend.

Mine cleared up on its own, too, Dej. It probably would have been quicker to do the IVSM but that stuff is so brutal to your body.......I just had to pick between the two evils. Suffer with ON or suffer with IVSM and ON. I already had the ON so I just stuck it out. I'm always glad I did once it's all over. I hope yours clears up quickly.

IVSM leeches calcuim from your bones, is very tough on your kidney and adrenals. it is a wonderful thing if you need it, but I try to not need it.

We have a rule in my clinic that if you have a new or worse sx, it must last for 24 hours straight no break. you have 10 days to start steroids. After 10 days the rate of recovery is the same as if you took or didnt take steroids. you body can and will heal itself if you give it the tools that it needs, but sometimes it goes haywire, and you must have intervention.

I reserve steroids for the big stuff like blindness, or word confusion or trouble swallowing my own food. That kind of stuff can really scare you and I dont want permanent blindness, but I also dont want fractured hips and thighs in ten years from being soaked in the stuff. its a bad game, and no choice is a good choice.

I have juiced TONS of veggies, high anti oxidant stuff and used the topical steroid drops, because most meds dont cross in to the vitrious fluid of the eye very easily. So, im drowning in the good stuff, all raw, all micronutrients. it really does seem to be helpful.

The last time I did IVSM I had pancreatitis and landed in the hospital for a month! my stomach completely stopped, it was incredibly painful and I dont ever want to repeat that.

Steroids are a blessing and a curse. Wishing you a quick recovery.

Hope you heal soon Dej! Sucks to have these problems on vacation but it sounds like you are taking good care of yourself. I think you are smart to stay away from IVSM if the ON isn't causing blindness. Pancreatitis sounds horrible.
