Hello all,
I have not been feeling well lately and am now wondering why my neuro's office staff always asks, "Have you been hospitalized or had any visits to the ER since we last saw you?" I called my neuro but his is out until the middle of Oct. It really makes me wonder now, "Why do thay ask about being hospitalized?" and "What are the reasons for people with m.s. to be hospitalized beyond normal inpatient reasons such as surgery or broken bones? Thank you for your thoughts an/or expeiences on this. Eric |

I would say it is just to keep their records of your general health up to date. Like when I went to my family practice and found out about some spinal issues that gave me some problems walking. It was a good addition for my neuro to have that in my record so when their are any issues about walking we know that I do have that.

Also there are germs you can pick up from hospitals!
Mrsa and C.difficile for example. Pseudomonas too.

Thank each of you for your thoughts. I can call them and ask. I'll get back to you all and let you know what they say.

I was in the hospital once for MS. I had optic neuritis but wasn't sure that was the problem at the time. I had severe pain behind my right eye. My neuro's office told me to go to the er when I called.
The hospital did a ton of testing to make sure I wasn't having a problem unrelated to the MS. I was admitted for 4 days and they administered pain iv pain meds and started me on ivsm. When I went for my next neuro visit, they asked me the question! I was a bit shocked. Apparently they hadn't noted my hospital visit in my chart and my neuro had no idea I was in the hospital. Maybe they ask because they sometimes don't aalways keep track of us like they should ![]()
