Question Painful Numbness

My right hand has been numb for years. It feels like I have a big baseball glove on it all the time. But recently it's been very painful. It's so hard to explain to someone how something can be numb and hurt at the same time. It's especially bad at night. Just throbs and feels like my whole hand is swollen.....but it's not. It's traveled up my arm and right now stops about half way up. Right around my elbow. I hate taking meds and so far haven't taken anything stronger than Aleve for this. My hand is getting weaker, though, and I've noticed I really don't have any strength in it anymore. Can't even open a jar or turn a key with my right hand. And writing....forget it! I used to have such pretty handwriting. Now it looks like I'm trying to write with my toes.

I know there's nothing I can do about it......just whining a little I guess.

I'd whine, too. Even with MS AND arthritis, I've been blessed to have "normal" use of my hands most of the time. Do you think it's MS-related?

I have the same thing, numbness and pain. Does the pain wake you up from sleep or is it keeping you from sleeping?

Yes, it does both. It throbs at night and wakes me up of I sleep with my right arm bent. I have to lie with my arm straight down at my side - which means sleeping on my back but I do that anyway.

Yes, it's MS related. I had the test done to rule out Carpal Tunnel. The Neuro said it's just permanent nerve damage done by the mega-flare I had back in 2005. I tend to use my left hand almost 100% of the time now. So much so that my left arm is now aching.
