Does neurontin affect your appetite? I don't seem to want to eat & when I do, I don't seem to know when I'm full. Has anyone else ever had that? I've only been taking it twice a day for about two weeks.

Yes, I've heard that Neurontin can effect your appetite either way.. It can possibly cause you to gain weight or lose, depending on how your body reacts to it.

I have been on Neurontin since 2003. For me, I had very little side effects, including weight gain. I will say though that I am on a very little dose compared to others. I take 900 mg a day.
For me, the hunger issues are due to MS and not Neurontin. I can be hungry and eat a couple of bites and feel full. ![]() Make sure you are drinking plenty of water when you take Neurontin. It will help with some of the side effects. |

This is my experience having taken Neurontin. I outright forgot to eat one day, and I knew something wasn't 'right'. I stopped taking it shortly thereafter (I had a host of side effects on it).

I didn't do well on neurontin either. I was on the lowest dose and still couldn't handle it. I was not myself...very depressed. I tried it for only three weeks and stopped, decided to just ride out the leg pain which went away after a couple of months...thankfully! Such a horrible, throbbing pain that doesn't quit..takes your breath away, interrupts everything you do, including sleep. The one thing I wonder about this med is that my pain went away on its own, so what if this med agreed with me, took my pain away, do you just keep on taking this med?...forever? How do you know if it would have gone away on its own? Just wondering...for those of you who take this regularly.

That's too bad. I stared taking 300 mg once daily and it really helps with nerve hypersensitivity in my back and elsewhere. Seems to effectively dull the pain 'response' from tacticle contact. I'm pretty happy that I was prescribed it a week ago. As for eating more...mmm...not really. I'm on a consistant diet, so the desire to overeat isn't really there. Then again may be I'm not taking a high enough dose to get those 'eat more' cravings. Of course, may be neurontin affects your metabolism? Perhaps that's why people gain weight. |

I've only agreed to take it twice a day...600 mgs. is enough. It doesn't take care of all of the symptoms; but, it does dull the most aggrevating ones so I can function. Thanks to all who posted...I'm a newbie at all of this & taking pills is all new to me. Hoping for a better understanding of what is to come! ![]()
