I went a couple of times to a local MS support group (don't ask), but once a PT from the hospital came to speak with us...she was very knowledgeable about MS, and she gave us a handout with suggested exercises.
I wonder if any local hospital's PT department would help that way?

My big wishlist item for Christmas was the Wii Fit Plus bundle. Since we have a perfectly good Wii system that the kids never use anymore (Xbox and PS3 are way cooler), I figured that us grown ups could use the Wii to get into better condition.
I have to admit that I love this thing. You can do as little or as much as you want. I've been working on yoga to help my balance and core strength. There are also specific games to work on balance, strength, etc. I like that I can do it in my own house at my own pace. The system tells you if you are doing the exercises correctly or not, too. I would highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it. The Wii Fit bundle isn't too bad ($100) if you already have the Wii. If you had to buy both, it would be closer to $300. I was really worried that we wouldn't really use it, but now I look forward to it. I even get up an hour earlier in the morning to get in my workout before work.

I should try this. I have a Wii system but never use it. The kids use it sometimes when they come over but not often. I'm just afraid it will be like every other "exercise" thingy I've bought in the past....stored in the closet. ![]()

I love my Wii Fit!! I use the step part, jogging, balance, boxing, so many things. I even have tried my Biggest Loser Wii DVD. I don't like it as well as WiiFit tho...

Go Sally! Go Sally! Go Sally! Keep moving.
![]() ![]() I agree that moving around is much better than sitting. Of course, even when I am sitting I move around - kind of like fidgeting. It hurts to sit still sometimes. ![]() Now, talking about moving. This morning I saw my 90-year old neighbor out walking with her walker. I decided to go talk to her and invite her for tea one afternoon this week. (She lives alone). I go out there and this 90-year old woman is FAST! Well, comparatively because I am much slower. I couldn't walk fast enough to catch up to her. Now that is inspiration to me. She inspires me to walk more and keep on going. |
