Question Symptom Journal

Hi again!

Thanks to everyone who has answered any of my questions...I really appreciate it!!

Ok...here's kind of a whopper. My PCP has asked me to keep a journal of my symptoms; as I am getting ready to refill the neurontin and have noticed some types of symptoms are coming back faster than others.

My question is: which symptoms should be included in this journal? All of them or only the ones that come back before the next dose? She wasn't specific...or...lol...I don't remember which ones were supposed to be logged. The neurologist also requested this (according to my hubby) but I didn't remember that either.

What is typically kept in this type of journal? Do I have to keep it daily?

Thanks again for the info & keep smiling...it keeps everyone else wondering what you are up to!

I keep a list of all neurologic symptoms...bladder/bowel, balance, pain, numbness, cognitive problems, eyesight, etc.

I list the date of onset, what I notice, and the date it dissipates. Sometimes the list is looonnnngggg....

It assists me during my exams with my neuro...gives him a timeline of what has been occuring. Then I usually get a lecture about the need to call him when these things happen.

It'll help you, too, so you don't have to remember what the heck happened and when...

i would keep it daily.
the date and the sx (symptom). then you don't have to rely on memory.
after a while you might see a pattern emerge. and like you said, will be helpful to your dr to evaluate at visits.

I would record everything...every day. Something that might not seem important to you may seem important to a doctor.

Its all about establishing a pattern or lack of.

Default Hi New2

I keep a very detailed journal. All symtoms, all pain, location, duration, and time they happen. The more detail you give to your doctor, the better he will be able to understand what is happening to you. I just use a spiral notebook and do a daily write up. I also write down the meds. I take and when. I wish you all the best and I am glad you found Neruo Talk. This site has helped me with several very serious issues. ginnie
