I have recently been diagnosed with Central Sleep Apnea. My breathing starts off fine, but every time I go into REM sleep I simply stop breathing. It is nothing dangerous since when I stop breathing I simply wake up. On the other hand I don’t actually get any REM sleep at all. That can’t be good for a person, don’t you think? The doctor said that an MS lesion on my brain stem probably causes my problem. That’s the part of the brain that is supposed to tell our lungs to breathe.
