Default Diaper Rash.

I thought those days were gone, when my youngest grew up.

I developed a hearty case of diaper rash, while in the hospital. Anyone else ever have this problem? And if so how did you get rid of it?

I ordered some Butt Paste...yes that's right, it's Boudreaux's Butt Paste. A nurse told me it's good stuff.

It's just awfull, I'm red and rashy all over my poor little nether region.

The standard treatment in many nursing homes is
zinc oxide/A & D ointment mixed 50:50

To clear it up at home, clean the area and dry it well (a hair dryer on low is a good way to dry), and
apply A & D ointment. This often clears it up quickly.

If you have a secondary infection present it could be either bacterial or yeast or both.

If A & D does not work, then do triple antibiotic ointment for 3 days, then Lamisil cream, and alternate.

A serious "butt" rash can be complex in other words.

Once you get it healed up, using A & D after bathing applied to dry skin, will often prevent further problems.

Default pasty

Hi Sally, Yep Butt paste it works. When I was heavy I got a rash between my thighs, used it and it clearned right up. Allow air around you more if you can to expose your skin to dry not damp. take care sally, ginnie

The Boudreaux's worked for me. I also use Lady Anti-monkey Butt powder when it's hot and humid outside. It helps in areas where you get friction rash.

a very small amount of Desitin works for friction rashes. You dont need to slather it on either.

Never use powder or talc.
If it's fungal, use a bit of cansesten (clotrimazole)
If its red raw with clear fluid leakage, it could have a bacterial element to it which needs better creams such as Kenakomb, an antifungal antibacterial mix.
Leave the zinc and castor in the 1950's where it belongs imho.

OK, Received my Derierre Pate.. I'll let you know if it works for me. A Medical cite tells me to use Neosporin salve and alternate every three days with the other, if one doesn't get rid of it.

Getting and staying clean is no problem. Staying dry in the little folds, where you tend to perspire, is not. Butt I'm working on it.

SHEEEEEEESH!!!!!

are you sure its not a bedsore? I got one at my hospital stay that took 11 weeks to clear. I had to go see a wound specialist and lucky it did not get infected.
