This is an interesting thread. Making accomodations is very difficult for some people to do, IMO.
I don't have MS, but I do have mobility issues, with my PN feet and my severe arthritis, which gets worse by the year! Like BTY, I have a very helpful husband who I does some things for me. Carrying stuff up and down stairs, lifting heavy odd things, etc. He does the wash, and I fold. He plants, and I grow the plants from seed, and decide what and where they will be. Basically I organize and he helps. ![]() I try and do most things for myself, and only ask him for big things, since I know he gets tired of helping me some days. Many projects now are both of us working in our own ways to get something done...as he appreciates having me as company without any nagging. I use a walking hiking pole now for outside, and up and down our steep outside stairs down to the street. This is mostly for balance. I do some of the same tricks mentioned here, except I do wear underwear still ![]() ![]()

I've used the same programmable remote for 20 yrs. I buy them from ebay, have 5. Program it the way I like so I never have to fumble over buttons I don't need. Don't know how anyone could use more then 1!
I also take a different route- exercise every day, take testosterone, low dose of estrogen & progesterone, ampyra, b12 ect putting off getting much worse the best I can. I like alot of the tricks mentioned though. This is a great thread. |

i have to plan most of what i do to conserve energy. like shower today so i won't be so tired when i go out tomorrow. i don't cook much either. i have one of those battery can openers that go around automatically. it's great. i also shop online. a lot of what you guys already suggested. great thread.

Good thread!!Alot of good ideas I could use. Everyday something seems to get worse. I am now using a cane but I think a walker would be better. With the weather getting warmer I won't have to worry about cooking. Bagged salads and sandwiches will get me through along with covering the major food groups.

I lurved my new wheeled walker w/seat. The freedom of walking without the fear of falling with every step. ![]() The freedom it gave me was awesome. I'd just throw it in my car and off I'd go shopping or whatever and when I got tired, would turn it around and sit down. I was the envy of everyone standing in line. ![]() Do get one, you won't be sorry. My Ins. covered it. I got a hoopdydo one, so I may have had to pay some? ![]()

I got a Rollator with a seat....sort of as a just-in-case type thing. I use my cane all the time and haven't needed to use the Rollator......yet. I could have used it after I had surgery and that's what prompted me to go ahead and get one. Don't want to wait till I really need it and not have it.
