I was too scared to take Betaseron many years ago, reading about "Depression" on the package, and knowing I was sensitive to drugs. Later, when I tried another form of Interferon for Polycythemia Vera, I didn't have "bumps" other than small round red rash bumps on my legs primarily, but I could only manage the side effects for a few weeks before I gave up. Tried three forms of Interferon Alpha and Pegasys. And tried Hydrea and Angrelide. Finally went six weeks ago to Mayo and had a radioactive phosphorus injection, which is making my platelets go down. Of course this is not for MS. My MS dx is very old now, and a recent MRI of brain does not make the neurologist sure what causes my white matter lesions....MS, small strokes, small clots, etc. But it was strongly urged to get the platelets down from l,400,000 to avoid stroke or clot. He could not tell me at all what causes the diffuse white matter lesions. And I never will know for sure. But I never will go off the Swank diet because I have always had much increased neurological problems if I do go off it. So that's my MS therapy--Swank. And continuing to do exercises on the bed and walk as much as I am able, even if "meandering."
