Default Anodyne therapy

Was wondering if anybody has used this. They are starting me on this on Wednesday. Any thoughts of if it works or not?

Light Therapy for pain and numbness, huh? Looks interesting. Let us know if it works for you.

Never heard of it before.

Good luck with your treatments, and please do let us know the results.

Default Use of MIRE (monochromatic infrared energy) for neuropathy

Our pedorthic facility had a physical therapist that specialized in the non-drug treatment of peripheral neuropathy. He used MIRE, estim, deep tissue massage, stretching, and balance therapies to address all components of this condition. Overall about 80-85% of his patients responded to his protocol. The biggest challenge was the fact that his treatments were scheduled 3 times a week. He would not accept a patient into his protocol unless they committed to this schedule. He was wanting patients to use home treatment units for estim and for MIRE. The estim part he found through the Prizm Medical unit that can be worn at night for 8 hour treatments but struggled with finding a reasonably priced home MIRE unit. The FDA has cleared the Prizm Micro Z Mini unit and the conductive stocking to be purchased over the counter (no Rx required). Their website with more information is **. We used this technology on about 120 diabetic neuropathy patients and got good results. Less hypersensitivity symptoms, restored feeling if neuropathy had progressed to numbness, increased blood flow to nerves, reduced swelling if it was present, and improved muscle tone. The type of estim their unit produces is one used by some therapists for soft tissue healing so it is more than just blocking pain.

Default Great results with Anodyne

My father has diabetic neuropathy and his Home Health agency, I think it was Amedisis, treated him with Anodyne. After a couple weeks, he told me pain and tingling started to fade. By the end of the month, he could go to the grocery store by himself and not have to worry about his feet hurting too much to walk. It's really changed his life. He hardly ever takes anything for pain, except for his back, and he said he can sleep better and through the night.

I'm surprised that I haven't really seen Anodyne mentioned on this forum. I can't imagine how horrible it is to suffer through something like this and not have any hope. It really helped my father, and I hope it helps you, too!

Since I've never posted here before you will probably think I am a salesperson, which I AM NOT !i have had neuropathy for over 3 yrs. and nothing seems to give me any help. Have goen thru all the creams, which are very temporary fixes. I cannot take the drugs as they make me too loopy and since my husband has dementia I cannot have my head messed up. I have gotten some relief from some compounded drugs, but still have night pain and disturbed sleep. i had my husband at the Medical Supply place for some special shoes and saw a brochure for this and was interested. My dr. gave me a scrip for it and I have been using it for over a mth now and do have night relief and can get much needed sleep as leg pain gets under control. The problem is I cannot find out if it is covered by Medicare...have called them and got a run around, so the provider is trying to find out for me. I do hope so as it could get expensive for the electrode stocking, plus I have already paid $198 for the unti which was supposed to be refundable as it was with the TENS I got earlier. If not I'll probably pay out of pocket since it works for me, but just hate that. Does anybody else have any info re this?

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

This is the Multiple Sclerosis forum, and our PN forum may have more input on Anodyne therapy.

I do believe but am not 100% certain that Anodyne was dropped from Medicare coverage, and most other insurances too as "ineffective"..

You'll have to consult them for details.

Here is the link to our neuropathy forum:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html

When you link to there, try the search function for Anodyne...
then you will see many posts.
