Wink numbness

Hi everyone,

Im wondering if anyone else here wakes up in the morning with something numb. almost every morning I wake up with either my leg or hand or whole arm numb, I touch it or scatch it and cant feel anything. the weird thing is, it is almost like once I become fully awake and aware of whats happening it goes away. I have made an effert to be aware of making sure Im not laying on anything and Im not. It does take a feww min. but wants I start moving the limb around the feeling comes back. Im just wondering if anyone else here has experienced this. When I told my neuro. this he just looked at me kinda funny and started talking about something else. I would appreciate any feedback.

thank you!

Neuros can be so lame sometimes..huh. They love giving you that look. If they dont know the answer, then it must be "all in your head".

Actually, waking up with numbness is a classic symptom of MS. The going away part is also normal, especially if you are RRMS. In the beginning of RRMS, most all symptoms come and go. Some stay longer.

When you awaken, you have sudden stimulatrion of the nerves and muscles, thus the numbness and tingling. Then as you get used to being up, it eases up. Do a few stretches before getting up. That helps.

My tingling and some numbness is here to stay for me. I've platteaued at SPMS. I seem to be staying the same for the last 4 years, and happy to have that continue.

I think my LDN (low dose naltrexone) has helped me stay stable, but it's a crapshoot with the drugs. Some help, Some don't and Meds that help some don't help all. How do you like the Beta, so far?

Good luck, April.

I can identify with the transient nature of our symptoms; it is one of the
things that I believe makes it so hard for many of us to get a firm diagnosis.
Conditioned to keep going we figure if it goes away it can't be serious.

I wake up to double vision most days, but it also fades as I get moving.
The numbness unfortunately seems to be permanent in several spots for
me.

A lot of Neuros haven't had all the experiences possible come to them for
help. Don't doubt what your body is telling you...everyone's MS seems to
be unique.

No worries April......it's not you, just the goofiness Of the disease I believe. There isn't a morning that goes by where I don't wake up with something that's a little numb or tingly! My body is equal opportunity also so I can never predict which part of me will be next! ~~Jess

I agree Jess, and this is the hardest part for me.... the not knowing what is going to be next - where will the numbness, prickle, tingle, pain be today. I don't think I will ever get used to that.....
