Yikes, my ex called me this morning to say that after a week of nonstop aches and joint pain all over that she doesnt have any pains, feels fine! Now its just that her joints-hands and feet look bluish! Her whole hand! I think that this is worse than my Parkinson's, at least I can take a medication and it works. Not like I have all sorts of symptoms that come and go!
Imagine-her with MS and I've got Parkinson's, a match made in heaven! |

I think a doctor's visit is in order.
Hands can go pale, and then warm up and get pink. But blue, means it is either more serious, or the venous blood is not returning to the heart properly. Raynaud's where hot and cold alternate is pretty common in women. But if only one hand is blue, that seems more serious IMO. Have her try soaking in lukewarm epsom salt water for 20minutes. Use some kind of pan, and watch TV or whatever. Keep the water warm, and use about 2 ounces of the salts depending on the size of the pan. Do not use hot water, as it can burn the skin etc. If the epsom salt soak works, that suggests a circulation problem.

I just talked to her again and her hands are darker than her feet! But definitely bluish. Has anyone with MS seen this? She is very worried that may be her diagnosis.

No Jim, whatever is causing your ex-wifes color changes would not be from MS.
She should get in to see her Primary Care Physician.

There are blood disorders of the antibodies...that can thicken the blood when it is cold out. One is Cryoglobulinemia.
Another is MGUS. People with these disorders have to watch their diet, and not eat too much fat at one time, which will also thicken the blood. Getting dehydrated is also serious for these people. There are over 100 causes of Raynaud's... it is a very common symptom. I'd have your friend, soak in warm water, with those epsom salts, as this will open up the small blood vessels and improve circulation. The magnesium in there is very very helpful. Autoimmune diseases, and all sorts of things can cause this. Epsom salts is one the main remedies we use on the Peripheral Neuropathy forum. It is nothing short of amazing how beneficial these soaks can be! When this works, it clarifies possible diagnosis as to what is going on and helps the doctor decide what to do.
