Default A duck on ice

I have begged literally begged to go bowling for about 15 years now. I used to be in a league and I was pretty good. My average was about 220. I LOVED it! I missed it. Well, 2 friends invited us to join them at the local alley on Monday. O M G! The floor was slick, the shoes were slick and it took all we could do to stay on our feet. I worked really hard at my balance and standing on my feet. Our buddy pulled a groin muscle. his wife pulled a hamstring.

The next day I could barely get out of bed. My thigh muscles were so tight and in spasm. it was painful and like my body over reacted to it. My thigh muscles clenched on and wouldnt let go. I went to the chiropractor who was amazed at how bad my back was and how much I was spasming. She gave me an adjustment and hot packs.

We all looked like ducks on ice! Since when did they start oiling the floors at bowling alleys? It took all I could do to not fall. I was so excited to go, but you know I wont be going back. What a mess.

OMG, well thank goodness it wasn't just you! Maybe ask around and see if this is a common thing in your area because it sounded like such a fun idea.

Since I can't walk a distance anymore, would have to do WC bowling and never wanted to do that. I loved bowling and bowled until my MS got worse. Wasn't too bad either, about a 160 average, but did bowl a 600 series a couple of times.

Find an Alley that doesn't do that. They are supposed to oil the alley, not the approaches.

Sounds like someone screwed up and oiled the entire floor instead of the alleys. I'd complain to the manager of the place, since it wasnt just you having a problem staying upright.

I just use my Wii for bowling. (Wii Sports Resort) More fun and I can do it in my jammies and control all the music that I might be listening to. I dont have to worry about dropping a ball on my toes and my floor is carpeted.

Instead of bowling shoes, you'll have to start wearing bowling cleats!

Seriously, I felt your pain just by reading your post! Hope you feel better soon. Sounds like that bowling alley is just waiting for a lawsuit to happen!

Try the Wii!!! My husband mastered how to do it sitting. You know you don't want to exert any muscles having fun

I can bowl on the Wii sitting down too. I can also do it left handed. (I'm ambidextrous) I did something to my right shoulder this past fall, have no idea what I did, but it hurts a lot sometimes and sometimes the next day it wont hurt at all. It kind of interfered with my Wii bowling, so I had to start playing left handed.

I need to start playing with the Wii some more. I havent done much all winter because my hands are still numb. Maybe if I start playing with the Wii some of the exercise you get from playing the games will help my hands?
