Well.....usually I manage to fight it off, but I now have the cold from heck.
![]() It's been years with this over-active immune system ![]() ![]() Hot tea with honey seemed to help calm the cough somewhat. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Okay, so weak, my fingers won't work anymore.......... ![]()

You should be able to use Robitussin DM. No decongestants in
that. It will help with the mucus and help move it out. Drink plenty of water when taking. This comes in a tablet form, available as Mucinex DM. (not D). Less expensive generic at WalMart called Mucus relief cough. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mucus-Reli...ssant/14150039 Usually people with mitral valve prolapse can tolerate cold products that do not have decongestants or caffeine in them. http://www.drugs.com/cg/mitral-valve...arge-care.html I have to wonder if you use an ACE inhibitor for blood pressure? If so I'll continue with another warning.

Thanks for the info, Mrs. D......I take a beta-blocker, Atenolol which is the generic for Tenormin. It's just for the mitral valve prolapse, not high blood pressure. Mine actually runs low.

Okay, that's good. It is the same thing I take, BTW.
ACE inhibitors create excess bradykinin buildup in the body and cause breathing problems and a dry cough. (among other more serious potential problems in some people).
