Default I have to Vent

As some of you know, I finally get to go to a MS Center in August or sooner if they get a earlier appt open. So with that set, I fired my neuro. Why? I have had a lot of medical problems in the past, and every doctor I have encountered was very nice - all with the exception of my neuro. First off, he was late on answering emergency phone calls.

I remember one time I called him at 1030am, told the nurse I needed to speak to him ASAP...I didn't hear from by 7:30pm so I called my PCP - he called me within 10 minutes and suggested I go to the ER. My neuro however did not call my until the next day 24 hours after the visit to the ER.

He has done this not just once, but plenty of times - always calling late on emergencies. Then when I asked him about my vision not getting better, he just says he doesn't know the answer, like its not even his problem to deal with. If it wasn't for my problem and someone refering me to you, I wouldn't have come in the first place!

Then I call his office and asked about the MRI Application from the MS Institute that I left with them to see if it had been sent back (for those who are unaware, you can apply to see if you can get your MRI on your brain paid for). They told me that they don't know.

So today actually I called the MS Institute to see if they had received my application - in which I gave the paper to my doctor over a month ago. They said no one had sent in anything.

Tired of going to the ER and getting pain help there, I called my doctor last week to see if he can give me something for pain - he said call a pain specialist and I'm like WHAT - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!!?

That right there made me angry for the last time - so I fired his butt. I will NEVER go to him again! Thank goodness I have the MS Center to look forward too - I'm fricken tired of this pain I've been in!

I've had 11 surgeries in my lifetime - but nothing NOTHING has ever been worse as this MS has been.

Sounds like you need to report him to the states medical board. He is a lousy example of a doctor. My neuro takes my pain seriously and helps me with it.

Definitely don't go to a physician you aren't comfortable with but sadly it is pretty rare that our MS stuff is a true emergency and if it were a true emergency a visit to the ED is exactly where you should go.

Most physicians become uncomfortable, with good reason, when it appears there is a chronic pain issue and refer out to a pain specialist. To me that is only prudent and not in any way negligent.

Default Hi Skywalker

You were absolutely right to fire this doctor. he didn't put your concerns and pain on his radar at all. These doctors who dismiss us a patiens have gotten too big a head.
I do not have MS, but other neruo problems, I also fired my doctor, I actually waved bye bye without a word and walked out. I was to say the least as ticked as you were. Report him. He forgot his vows to "Do No Harm" ginnie
