Hi Gretchen! I've fallen more than once. Luckily, most my falls have been close to home. For a long time, every time I turned a left corner, I would fall. It was really weird and yet funny. That has since gone away and I started using my cane which helped. I have had more close calls than actually falling. These close calls happen all the time but I have always been able to grab on to something to break the fall. My last out of the home event was last week. I went to PT and when I got out of the car my right leg wouldn't cooperate and got caught on the door jamb of the car. I caught myself and didn't fall but definitely looked around to see if anyone noticed.
![]() Is it possible you are having an exacerbation? Maybe a call to your neuro would be a good idea since you are still having some trouble. And, btw, TBI is traumatic brain injury. |

that happened to me just once thankfully. i was walking into my bathroom from bed during the nite and my legs just gave out. fell against my cabinets and had a nice bruise from the knob on my back.
my neuro said maybe i was too asleep and the messages weren't getting from brain to legs. ???? maybe time for a neuro check up?

One time I got up from the toilet, took a step or two towards the shower, turned it on and then my leg just would not move. No amount of brain signal would allow it to move. Eventually I hopped back to the toilet on the good leg and sat there until my leg wanted to work again.
Is that the same thing? That happened when my PN was first going on. It happened on the same side that I'm having tremors in my hand. I find myself tripping sometimes, but I have always attributed it to me just not picking up my foot. And I put that in the "I have cats" area as I step low to not step on them, but I wonder if I have just been making adjustments myself without knowing. |

Well, it happened again today, this time in the dentist's office when I got up to get some x-rays made. I'm going to become know as the woman who falls everywhere she goes.
![]() I was more aware of everything that went on in the approx. 20 seconds of this attack. It was actually my left hip that went first, followed by my left leg and left arm. It is such a painful spasm, that I have to go to the ground and onto my left side. ![]() So, I guess it's not really a fall, but I definitely have to go to the ground. The worst part of it is the pain. My left arm is numb and the leg feels unsteady, too. My right side isn't too affected, just slightly. Does anyone get anything like that? Yes, it's time for a check-up, I'll be going Friday morning. Thanks to everyone who responded! Gretchen |
