I get esophogeal spasms. They're not fun. I have a script for nitroglycerin that I keep with me. It does help the spasms. Hopefully, the Prilosec is helping you and you are feeling better. Have you heard back on the test results?

No, I just gave the vampires my blood yesterday for testing. They should call me tomorrow with the results, if not on Friday.
tkrik - are your spasms related to MS? How does the nitro help? I'll go look that up. |

I have not gotten a clear answer on that one. It's one of those that the GI dr will say MS and the neuro will say GI. I do have a motility disorder with difficulty swallowing as well as other GI issues so who knows the real cause.
It is my understanding from the dr that nitro increases blood flow to the area which helps. My PCP also recommended taking a lorazepam (Ativan) as it will help relax the muscles. I've only had it happen once but the spasms lasted a good 48 hours. They did admit me to the hospital for observations and testing to make sure it was not cardiac related. All tests came back normal with the exception of some PVC's, which I've had for years. |
