Hi everyone...
I had a simple surgery done w/ mac iv sedation, she used some of regular anethesia and some versed I think she said all iv tho'.

Well I felt fine after (usual dopey stuff but neruo sxs gone mostly)

And the darvocet helped a lot too, w/ neuro stuff too (had to stop taking it it resurected my stomach ulcer scared me).

But now that all the stuff is wearing off my neuro sxs are so bad, is it just they seem bad cause I was doped and they were gone, or are they worse?

Is it common for darvocet to help neuro stuff? Its not codiene, but similiar related to morphine or somthing I forget exactly and tylonol of course.

Hi Sloth (love that name). I'm glad that your surgery went well,and it's over. So sorry that your sx are ramping up, though.

Isn't Darvocet a wonderous med? I took it after my teeth were pulled and everything was great for awhile. To bad you can't stay on the stuff forever, but then, you'd be a junky.

I don't know if it helped my MS sx or not.....who cared? I do know that post surgery, MS can rear it's ugly head. I've heard that Steroids can sometimes help pre or post surgery. I hate 'Roids, but, whatever works..right?

So glad surgery went well. The darvocet is a med that changes brain chemical comp and lessens pain sensations, like morphine, oxy codone etc.

Vicodin does wonders for me 1/2 for less nausea and I haven't a care in the world. All the best to you.

Hello Sloth,
I'm glad your surgery is behind you, and that you fared well. I know it was a concern for you. The Darvocet isn't very strong. We use it quite often after minor surgical procedures for post-operative pain. You may have felt as if it may have been helping your MS sx's because it was making you a bit loopy.

I don't believe there are any type of anti-inflammatory properties in Darvocet. Your sx's may be increasing because of your surgery or you may be more aware of them now because you weren't aware of them for a few days.

Get some extra rest, as you did just have surgery, and hopefully things will quiet back down to where they were before the surgery.

I guessing it helped the spasticity issues, I cant take baclofen or zanaflex so Im assuming thats what I felt.

Ive always wondered if I have sleep siezures tho the wierd way feel when I wake for a long time after I dont know if it helped that or not.

Its my stomach lining thats the problem tho', I dont know but Im fairly certain it nailed it.

Glad the surgery part is over! It never really simple for us with MS somehow.

I think that Darvocet is a combination of Darvon and Acetominiphen. I have
taken it, years ago, and it is good for pain. I am thinking that Tylenol is
Acetominiphen?

I nearly always go into a tailspin after surgery or when I have infections or
even a bad cold. Most times the issues resolve, but it's tough waiting to
see if and when you will feel better. For now, let the Dr know and try to
rest up if you can. atb, kami
