hi sue, good to hear from you but sorry for the circumstances.
your words "right now" rang with me. right now doesn't mean forever, or even a month from now. give the steroids some more time to work. if this was happening to your dh would he be a failure in your eyes?

btw...your children are beautiful.

please try to be gentle with yourself and a bit patient. can you think of a plan to help with your situation? like ask friends or family for some cooking/cleaning help? set some priorities for your responsibilities. for instance, cleaning could wait while laundry may be more pressing. can your kids take on any tasks to help out? sometimes having a plan keeps us in control. it's a more powerful feeling and may help with your feelings of failure...which you aren't.
