Oh My....I remember when I had two cats and how difficult it was to get them in and out of the car.
 That is so cute how she wanted the protection of her carrier.  It's quite normal for Cats to be leary of Kids and to protect themselves. It sounds like she is just quite spoiled by you and hates the intrusion of the Grandkids. She's mad at you right now, but she'll get over...about mealtime, I'd say. The rabies shot can leave the animal listless for a bit. Not to worry, she'll be fine.
