I just watched a story on DBS and Parkinson's.
Seems it controlled the severe hand tremors of a man who had Parkinson's. It worked so well that he can now button his shirts and carry a cup of coffee without spilling it. He has to wear a pacemaker that is attached to his brain in the specific region that controls his hand movements. If he turns it off his tremor begins again immediately. I'm wondering if this could work for MSer's? Has this been discussed before? I looked but didn't see anything on it. I'm going to do some research on the Internet and see if this has been performed on anyone with MS.

"The FDA has not specifically approved deep brain stimulation of the thalamus to treat multiple sclerosis. However, this does not mean that the treatment is experimental or that it would not be covered by insurance. There are many examples of treatments that are used every day but have not been approved by the FDA for a specific medical condition."

I'm wondering if DBS can help with gait or drop foot? I'm going to ask my Neurologist about it when I see him in July.
