Default On my own

Today I had what will probably be my last MRI. I suspect the MS clinic gets a nice kickback for referring me for the MRI, so they had no problem ordering one for me when I requested one.

I also think I am done with the clinic altogether. The MS specialist (who also has MS) made it clear that when you have secondary progressive MS, they can’t really help you. I guess I am on my own.

But, thinking about it, I’ve pretty much always been on my own with MS. My first complaint to an MD of a classic MS symptom (trifacial nerve pain - Does your face hurt? Well it's killing me! lol) was when I was fourteen years old. Yadda, yadda, yadda, I was diagnosed with MS at age 59. All those years when I could have been taking the MS Disease Modifying Drugs, the “MS experts” were too busy telling me to go on a diet and get some exercise. And I had plenty of exacerbations over the years. I’d complain to my doctor, and they’d tell me it is all in my head, and go on a diet.

Am I bitter? How could I not be?

Yeah, I'm having a bad day. And, yeah, I know it gets better.

Perhaps this post will be read by somebody who is also having a bad day. It'll let them know that they are not alone.
