Hello Lumia_black,

I went years before ever wanting or even considering getting a flu vaccine. Then several years ago I decided to get a flu vaccine. I have never been sorry and continue to get one each year, usually the first or second week of October.

The strange thing to me is since I started getting the flu vaccine I rarely get sick, with anything viral I have never figured out if it has simply been a coincidence or what Whatever the reason, I love not dealing with viruses or the flu

Best wishes!

Still havent done it, I'm so nervous about the chance it might set me on fire and I'm not the best shape ATM. In reverse I'd hate to get the flu, cause that would probably burn me completely down. Also with the stress of my medical bills and such, I'm just pretty miserable these days....just dont know where or what to do. ill probably take a chance....I'm betting effects from the shot would be far less than getting the flu.

thanks.

If you are going to be around people during the holidays I would suggest you seriously consider getting it NOW. They are already reporting an increased number of people (over last year) coming to ER that have tested positive for the current flu in my area. It takes a couple of weeks for your system to develop antibodies.

This is why I am more wanting to get it this year. Some people close to me have gotten it and I have to stay away from them.

Every year I go to a place they don't know me for flu shot. I check 'no' on the question of do I have a neurological disease.

Just saw on news that the CDC is saying that this year's vaccine is not a good match for about 1/2 of the flu being seen around the country.

I just saw that and thought, GREAT, just GREAT <sigh> I'm not sorry I got the flu vaccine but a news release like that is frustrating.

Why BBS1951?

It is perfectly okay to check that box. Multiple Sclerosis is on the list of health issues the CDC recommends getting the Flu Vaccine.

Something to consider:

I was reading a Health News Headline here last night and a medical person responded in the comments about the flu vaccine being a "failure" this season. The commenter said it gave her parent ADEM.

So I looked up ADEM and found this about vaccines:
http://www.adem.org/

This is a link to our HNH forum and the discussion about this year's vaccine:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread213075.html

It is something to think about. Certainly a poor vaccine with a potential for causing serious neurological consequences besides, is a factor in making this personal decision to get flu vaccine or not.
If you go to the link given on Yahoo... please read the comments.

Hi Kitt,

For those with Multiple Sclerosis the Flu Vaccine is usually recommended but checking with the Neurologist is never a bad idea

The same reasons some people can't get a Flu Vaccine (egg allergy, ect) would fit for someone with Multiple Sclerosis.

The Flu Mist is absolutely NOT recommended for anyone with MS.

Information regarding the Flu Vaccine as well as other Vaccines in those with MS:
