You know that MS symptom where you lose your train of thought mid-sentence? Does anybody know if there is a medical term that describes that?

Kitty, thank you so much for the link. I followed it and found out that what I am experiencing is called Thought Blocking.

Many conditions have that problem, plus some meds can play a role too..
Brain fog is another term for it.. I had major brain fog when I was on Lipitor. ![]()

I've had this happen but thankfully it went away. I think I've had two bouts of it. It's the worst. When this happens, I also tend to get words wrong... like saying "good morning" when it's 7pm... which I realize happens to everyone from time to time but it happens ALL the time and I start to sound nuts. And I have Freudian slips constantly. Make it difficult to communicate intellectually.
I'm very thankful that this seems to be a transient issue for me, at least for now. It comes and goes. I haven't had it happen in a while which makes me happy. |

I definitely know what you're talking about, but as to medical terms... Thought blocking is probably the closest you'll get. What's really fun is when you forget a whole conversation... Or can't remember if you really had the conversation or just meant to say/discuss whatever. And of course my DH's favorite, simply forgetting you're having a conversation and just kind of mentally or occasionally physically wandering off.
I don't enjoy crossword puzzles quite as much anymore either. And have since turned in my crown as the queen of trivial pursuit, my family long since came up with the rule for me that my answers had to match the cards verbatim for it to count, and I only get one chance. I used to still beat them resoundingly, but now I'm lucky if I can even spit out the main answer, let alone recite a complete answer as it would show on the back of the card. But we get much more time together when we play now ![]()

I am on many meds; and often wonder if it's me or the meds or a little of both. Just can't get the words right. Often use something that sounds similar; but not really the word I'm looking to use and am quite aware the word is incorrect. Also, tell myself "self; maybe if you didn't talk so much you might appear a little more intelligent ". I wouldn't be groping so often for words/thoughts. Gerry |

I don't think it's the medical term, but brain fart sums it up nicely.
