I saw my opthalmologist yesterday. He told me that in the three weeks since I saw him last that my vision has deteriorated to the point that I am no longer allowed to drive.
He is angry and doesn't understand why I haven't had an MRI yet. He feels that I need to be treated. Now that I have ON in both eyes it is very frustrating just trying to function, not to mention the tingling and pain in my legs and my bladder issues. Socialized medicine may be great for the pocketbook, but it sucks for timely care. Tracy |

i don't know how your medical system works but in the US an opthamologist can order an mri. they are md's just like others drs are. can you work it from that angle?
also, maybe your eye dr can call your pcp and talk directly to him. that may help also. since he feels so strongly about it. perhaps you can put some pressure on your dr too. after all, playing around with sight is no small thing.

Would you be able to get an MRI if you went to the ER? Things are different here in the US when it comes to urgent or expedited care.....as much as we all complain about our doctors, etc. when we need it (urgent care) we usually get it. Vision should be considered an urgent need. Is there anyone higher up in the medical chain you can contact?

So sorry to hear that you can no longer drive and of your worsening eyesight. I can't drive due to fainting and severe blood pressure problems so I totally understand how horrible it is, particularly when you rely on a car so much like me.
![]() I'm in the UK and things are similar here in terms of MRI scans. We can't just go and demand one. Doctors will only order one if they feel its absolutely necessary... and even then they only do them as a last resort. ![]() Hoping things get better for you soon ![]()
