Default Saw my neuro

Well, last week I was told I wouldn't be able to get in to see my neuro until the 15th of June. Imagine my surprise when I got a call yesterday to come straight in.
He got a call from my optho and my gp telling him I was going downhill fast. When I saw him he told me his receptionist hadn't given him the letters both docs had sent.

Anyway, long story short. He gave me a script for oral prednisone 1250mg over 5 days. He took my requisition form into the radiologist so that I could get the MRI in the next few weeks, before my scheduled June 15 th appointment.

So, forward movement.
He also had me get a blood test for NMO. He said he still strongly believes it is MS, but he needs to do his due diligence.

Default Things moving quickly

Tracy,
Wow! Things are moving along well now. Those initial tests can tell a lot.
You need to be patient; those tests are great initial tests to determine if you have MS.
We will be hoping for the best for you. Prednisone can have some side effects, although if it's only for 5 days, maybe not. I'm not familiar with a 5 day treatment, but if you are experiencing ON, I don't know about that particular symptom. I only know about longer-term Prednisone temporary side effects.
Good luck Tracy.

Tracy, if the dose you wrote 1250 mg is correct, you may need to pick up some over the counter pill for your stomach and something to help you sleep. Good luck

cudos to your dr to act and apologize to you.
and, to your other drs who went to bat for you. sounds like you're building a good team.

keep us posted. i've never taken roids so lean on others to give you advice.
read the med insert, ask your pharmacist Q's and call your dr for any side effects.

Well, the steroids are kicking my butt. I can barely stay awake. I am so thirsty, I could drink a lake.
I had my first of two MRI'S today. They just did my brain. I was in there for 1.5 hrs. They did with and without contrast. The tech kept saying that they had to take more pictures, to "get it all".
I'm not sure what that means. I only know I was in there for 30 minutes longer than planned.
Next MRI will be Thursday the14th.

thanks for keeping us posted...you need to drink lots of water and eat low sodium foods to keep the weight gain down.

As for insomnia, I have heard that cannabis helps that...it's illegal here in the US, tho...
